Well, thought I would start a "Performance Boating" page. Why? Well, ever since I was a little kid, I have loved riding in "speed" boats. Water skiing, enjoying long summer afternoons under the sun, and hanging with friends. Then, in 1985, "Miama Vice" came on NBC and the first episode had the Scarab in it. I fell in love.
Over the years I have had a chance to ride in a number of boats, but the Summer of '97 was by far the all time best. I got to ride in a friends 1990 Mach 1. It had the Mercruiser 454 with "adjustable" exhaust. It was just like riding in a big block Chevy equiped car, but more exhilirating. I have since then learned quite a bit about power boating.
The 2 boats pictured on this page are my dream boats. I would love to win the lottery, buy a house in Key West and live right on the ocean. Then I could run down to the dock and hop in either my Baja Boss 420 or Sonic 45SS, either with triple big block Chevy motors and a full tank of gas. Then I could run down to the Caribean for a LONG weekend. Ohhh, what a joy it is to dream.
Seriously, though, even though I live in Iowa, I will some day own a nice power boat. At least 26 feet long, closed bow, steped-V hull, and at the very least, a built big block Chevy. Full out cruising at 65+ mph!!!! What a way to spend an afternoon.
