My 93 Z28
My 1993 Chevy Camaro Z28
Well, here it is, the best car I have ever owned. GM hit the nail right on the head
when they created the 4th Generation F-Bodies. How is this for Factory stats:
- Reverse Cooled 350 with 275 HP
- 6 Speed manual transmission
- 4 wheel disk brakes with ABS
- Power everything - Seats, mirrors, windows, locks
- 3.23 Limited-Slip Rear
- Sport Tuned Exhaust
- 28+ MPG on the Highway
What more could you want? Well, as a member of the F-Body Mailing List, I
found out real quick that no car is a good car unless it is modified. So, I took my 6 speed, fully loaded 93 Z28 and began modifying it.
And here is how it went:
- AS&M cold air intake
- AS&M 52mm Throttle Body with air foil
- AS&M custom burned chip
- Hurst Comp-Plus shifter
- Throttle Body Coolant By-Pass
- March underdrive pulley
- 160 Thermostat
- JBA Dual primary, anti-reversion headers (Pictures soon)
- Taylor Spark Plug wires and firesleves
- Champion Gold Spark Plugs
- Borla street/strip adjustable cat back
- Eibach ProKit springs
- Bilstein shocks
- Hotchkis panhard bar
- Kenny Brown Double Diamond Subframe connectors
- Kenny Brown 3-Point shock tower brace
- T/A Performance Rear end cover
- BFG Comp TA ZR's 245/50ZR16
- 305/40/16 M&H Racemasters on stock Z28 wheels for the track (Check out what they look like on the car)
- Autometer shift light
- Manual fan switch
- RKSport Headlight/Taillight blackouts
- Tinted windows
- Ungo M9000 Alarm
- Bel 735 STi radar detector (great detector IMHO)
Well, that is about all I did. My local track, when I had the car, was Bandimere Speedway in Denver, CO.
The track is 5800 ft above sea level and my best run there was: 13.89 @ 102.9 (Stock was 15.3).
My best ever time was at a track 1500 ft. above sea level: 13.0 @ 107.8.
This car was a real runner. And it still got 27+ MPG on the highway at 75 mph.
Check out a couple other pictures of the car:
