My 1978 Pontiac Firbird was the first car I ever owned. I got it 2 days after I turned 16. It was a Silver ext/Maroon int plain jane 'Bird. It came with the anemic 305, front disks, TH350 tranny and a little bit of rust they threw in for free. I paid $1000 for it in 1987. The best part about it was the Stereo. It had a Pioneer stereo with a 200 watt EQ/Booster that was running 2 6x9's in the rear. This thing was luder than the car's exhaust.
This was my first experience with my own car and the "mod" bug hit me. I redid most of the interior, put a set of Cragers on it, air shocks out back, and redid the brakes. The car ran well, smoked a little, and got OK gas mileage. I owned it for about 6 months and decided I didn't like paying gas, insurance, and mod money any more. Especially when I wasn't working enough to cover it. So, I sold it for $1500.
