Honda Hornet 250

This little screamer has an inline 4 cyl. setup and the redline is dizzyingly high. You couldn't describe it as the fastest bike on the planet but it's certainly quick enough (esp. for a new rider) and will handle well enough to put a smile on your face. This bike is simmilar to the Hornet 600 that was released a few years after this 250 that was officially imported into Europe.
