The Mini-List International Mini Mini Meet
Part VI
The meet was held on 1st March 1998, starting at Rothersthorpee (southbound)
services on the M1,J15A - I arrived at around 11:15.
Well, if you thought MLM5 was good - think again!! We mustered
up to 31!!! cars, with folks arriving from all across the country.
I'd planned a nifty jaunt through the countryside, including some
great hunch-backed bridges - my first time 'flying' a Mini.After a few
miles we noticed that our 'Mini count' was down to 12 - time for the cavalry
to retrace our route and gather up the stragglers.
Soon after we were back up to full strength and carried on down
to the pub.
Having failed to find a single pub that met all of Scott's requirements,
I managed to find two within a few hundred yards of each other that between
them did, more or less.
Across the road the wine merchant had even anticipated our arrival:
I just loved that 'wood effect' car. That's a paint job with 'dedication'
written all over it.
Mind you we also had a Marcos:
And one car with a lot of 'front!
Will this be the biggest ever? (Never before have I had to stand on
the top of a lorry trailer to get all of you in the shot! - thanks to
the Belgian lorry driver for letting us clamber all over his rig.)
Ofcourse we all had to check out Scott's handywork - John to the rescue
with timing light & full tool kit!
Drooling over the ERA was a must.
Somewhere along the lines I got on the 'wrong' side of the camera
We even managed to get th cars 'washed' while we're inside: (rainbow
- geddid?)
If you want any of these images, I have the original (higher) resolution
files - just drop me a line. The ZIP of ALL the pictures of the day is
about 2.2MB.
For those of you who thought about coming along, but didn't - now you
know what you were missing!
