Welcome to the Home Page for information regarding Audi-Fest '97!!
What is Audi-Fest '97?
Audi-Fest '97 has grown from an idea that I had after meeting some quattro-list members in the Maryland area. After having a great lunch by the South River, and enjoying the comraderie, I began to wonder if it would be possible to get a nationwide gathering of Audi enthusiasts together. I posted the thought to the quattro-list, and after a warm reception, we've continued to pursue the mission.
So, our adventure begins.....
Where are we going to meet? And when?
After a bit of debate, and a vote, it was decided that the meet should take place at Pike's Peak in Colorado, on and around July 4th. The 75th anniversary of the Pike's Peak Hillclimb is this coming 4th of July, and it is only fitting that Audi be represented appropriately!! After all, Audi's success at this event has been outstanding!! Audi has proven time and time again that nothing comes close to turbo engines and the quattro system when blasting up a twisty, winding dirt road on the way up to the clouds!!

How is this being organized? Who should I contact?
Below is a list of people that have volunteered to serve as coordinators for certain geographic areas of the country. Please contact the person in your territory for general questions and info relative to the gathering in your area. They are also working on the route out to Pike's Peak from there.
I will not have access to my e-mail after Friday, June 27th, so...if you have unanswered questions about the event at Pike's Peak, or wish to get in contact to try to meet up with any of us along the way or out in Colorado, please e-mail Ben Howell - [email protected] in Colorado, or Ian Duff - [email protected], who has volunteered to act as an intermediary.
Lodging
For info about lodging, visit the site posted by James Marriott at: Colorado Springs Hotel Info.
For additonal info, go to the the quattro-list site, and search the archives. Some info was posted to the group during the week-ending 07/28/97.
Tickets
The great people at Pike's Peak are granting us dedicated parking (which might not sound like much, but really, it is... parking is at a premium at this event) at the bottom of the hill. They will only "rope off" the number of spaces we tell them. Therefore, buying a ticket (or "reserving" yourself a space) early is recommended (or should I say, mandatory?). We have been able to get a slight discount, and tickets are now $22 apiece for the day. If you wish to participate, contact Ben Howell - [email protected] in Colorado ASAP. As Ben states:
"I ask that ANYONE that thinks that there is even a remote chance that they will be coming out for this fantastic gathering, please e-mail me and tell me how many tickets you are going to need. I WILL be making the ticket purchase on the 30th of May and after that you are going to pay full price and are going to have to fend for yourself when it comes to parking.
I am also asking that you contact me no later than the 23rd of May, and I MUST have your money in hand by the 28th. Sorry, but the PP people set the deadlines, I don't. They said that I have to have the tickets purchased by the 1st of June. The 1st of June is a Sunday, so I have to have the money to them by the 30th (Friday)."
What can I expect? What exactly will take place?
Plans are progressing but we are still open to suggestions and recommendations. Conceptually, this event can mean many things to many different people. Individuals can participate as much or as little as they want. We envision many different "caravans" travelling from all directions, "picking" up others along the way out to Colorado. We also envision others meeting the "troops" along the way, at designated stopover points.
Tentatively, we plan to make the long-distance-travel worth it by driving through some of the country's best and most scenic areas along the way, stopping perhaps at some tourist-type locations, whilst enjoying great friendship with other enthusiasts along the way.
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the wonderful sense of comraderie and friendship that is unique to Audi enthusiasts. Owning an Audi is quite a rewarding experience, and owners tend to share a common bond. Come meet some great people, and enjoy the Audi experience!!
Michele Mouton!!
In addition to all that, we just learned that Michele Mouton, the famed Audi factory driver and renowned rally driver, who in 1985, with an Audi Sport quattro, won the Pike's Peak event, will be there for us to meet. The Pike's Peak people have arranged for one of the following: 1) A dinner or "come meet Michele" night for us ONLY at one of the local hotels a day or two previous to the race or 2) A visit by Michele at our "special" parking lot to talk/hang out/sign books/etc. with us on the day of the race!!!! YIPPEE!!

What about the Mt. Washington Hillclimb?
Audi is the "Title" sponsor for the Mt. Washington Hillclimb.
The New England Region of the Quattro Club USA (NEQ), along with Audi of America , is coordinating an Audi/Quattro Corral at the the Mt. Washington Hillclimb, in New Hampshire that is being held on the weekend of June 28th/29th. (More info is also available at the site of the New England Region of the Quattro Club USA.)
If you plan on attending, please go to the Event Flyer and Registration Form . There is a deadline for registration, so early registration will be especially appreciated as it will help to coordinate a successful event.
If you have any questions or problems about registration, please write to PAUL [email protected].
The Audi/Quattro Corral is open to all Audi and Audi Quattro owners, and you don't need to be a member of our club to participate.
REGISTRANTS ARE NOT GOING TO BE ENTERING THE RACE - Just spectating and hopefully volunteering as event workers.
This registration page also has a space to indicate if you plan to drive out to the Audi-Fest '97 event at Pike's Peak. A list of all those that will or might consider the trek out to Pikes Peak will be forwarded to me (Jim Griffin) to assist in the planning of that event.
Come one, come all!! We're looking forward to meeting all Audi enthusiasts at Mt. Washington for what promises to be a great event.
PLEASE NOTE: Audi-Fest '97 is NOT officially sponsored or endorsed by Audi.
