My Volunteer Fire Department
The volunteer fire department I belong to is called Bowling Green. I have been a member since 1992. It is located just south of Cumberland Maryland. It is really something I like doing, is helping people in their time of need. Hoping that one day if I need the same somebody will be there. There is nothing more exciting and dangerius then going into a burning building. I have seen my share of them in the few years I have been a member. Along with a number of wrecks and a few fatalities. When we go to parades and things, people always ask where we are from cause we are such a small town. We do things to raise money for things we need such as the fire engines and firefighting gear and for the bills. The activities we do are bingos, have a stand at the fair and have A Taste of Fall Festival in the fall. We do how every recieve a small amount of the tax money collected every year. This year,1997, was our 50th anniversary. In the few years I have belonged to the department I have become an EMT, firefighter II, secretary for two years and now I am an Lieutenant. Below are a few of our fire engines.
