Scirocco Cruise '98

The Main Event:
Sunday, May 3, 1998

Scirocco Cruise '98 was a huge success! 20+ Sciroccos!!!!! And about 20 "other VW's". Of all the Sciroccos, only 2 were Mk1's. We also had a large turnout of GTis, a few Jettas, a type 4 (they owned a Scirocco too!), a couple Passats, a Fox.... But everyone knew why we were there: Sciroccos!

In going with tradition, it started raining promptly at Noon. Once again this was a true H2O Fest! (Uh oh... I hear lawyers calling already <grin>) It rained pretty hard for the first hour, but it didn't dampen our spirits. Friends were made as we huddled under umbrellas until we found cover. The rain did stop though, with a few light sprinkles every now and then. More people kept showing up, despite my worries that the rain would keep everyone away. License plates read: Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Illinois, and Canada (chime in if I missed any!).

It was great to meet other Scirocco Mailing List members. To all that came, thankyou! Expect the next Cruise-in to be bigger and better! And yes, I bet it will rain again. The more it rains the more people that come! "We are NOT normal!"

Above, Scirocco Cruise '98 organizers
Kim DeVoe and Greg Davis await the arrival of the masses.

At 10:00am, the New Car Sales lot at Northland VW
was cleared in anticipation of a huge turnout.

The rain finally stopped and the Sciroccos kept coming.
