Cincinnati, Ohio Cruise-In #2
October 26, 1997

The second Scirocco Cruise-in was a success! Here is what I posted on the Scirocco Mailing List soon after returning home from THE Cruise-in:

"I've been home about ten minutes from the cruise-in and the turnout was
great despite having either rain or mist most of the time. People looked
at us like we were nuts standing outside in the nasty weather, but we all
had a great time! I'll admit I was shocked that so many came with the
weather the way it is was. Maybe we are nuts?!?

We had 12 or 13 Sciroccos (still debating, pictures will tell the truth!),
two of which were very nice Mk1's. The one was a very solid '80 S, and
the other was well restored, and running 17" wheels, with a suspension and
engine to match! The rest were a good mix of 8V and 16V Mk2's.

We also had 3 GTi's(one was a Driver's Edition), and two Jettas (one was
a Slalom edition from Canada). Yeah, we let a few non-Scirocco
owners join in the fun. We also had a lady in a big pickup truck that
said "Security" on the side stop and visit. " We're here to eat" was all I
said, and several times at that. She actually left and didn't come
back...can we say "Scirocco Envy?" ;) "

I know, shut up and show you the pics... Here they are! Be sure to click them for the full size photo!

Unfortunately, only 8 Sciroccos were present for our group photo. Next time we'll set a time frame for the photo shoot!

Below are two of our late arrivals! Several others arrived, but photos weren't taken :(

A big thrill was the two clean Mk1's that came! The gray Mk1 below sported 17" wheels, along with an engine to match! He is associated with "Johnny Mac Motorsports" that advertises in European Car Magazine.

We even enjoyed the company of five of our watercooled brethren - 3 GTI's and 2 Jettas.

New friends were made by everyone!

Chris Moyer brought his unique Scirocco down again from Dayton, Ohio to join the the fun! His incredible enthusiasm was obvious the minute he arrived at the first cruise-in!

This clean Jetta added nicely to all the other fine water-cooleds!

Another shot of that sweet Mk1! Be sure to notice the cool hood supports on the GTi on the right.

Most of the pictures are up now, but be sure to check back for updates!
