Mick’s New Car!
Ok, I know I have been
a true Torana lover all my life, but there comes a time when a guy needs to
change his underwear, and believe me, Mick has been wearing those for a decade
or two too long. Mick was browsing the online car auctions on Sunday night
(22/7/01) when he stumbled across this baby in QLD. The very next day, Monday
morning Mick was on a plane to Brisbane and bought the car. It was love at
first site, and what better then a 13hour drive from Brisbane to Sydney for
their first date. All these photos were taken with a shitty disposable camera,
I will have fresh, crispy, bright photos replacing these asap!!
For those of you who have no idea what this funny looking yellow car with a giant wing on the back is, let me explain. In 1996 Holden, HRT and TWR joined together and released an extreme limited number of VS GTS-R Commodores, all painted yellow! They only built 75 of these, and were not available to the general public, as they were all sold to those who had pre-ordered them from Holden dealers. These cars sold for Au$75,000 and each car is individually numbered, and Mick’s is number 20 from the 75 built. Basically this car has the extreme power of a sports car (5.7litre V8 engine, Hydrotrac diff, 6 speed manual, 215kw) and the luxury of modern technology (cruise control, air bags, power steering, power windows, electric mirrors, ABS, etc).
