NSU Prinz

NSU Type: Typ 40
Years: 1958 - 1962
Production Number:
  Prinz I - 1,648
  Prinz II/II(E) - 31,910
  Prinz III - 30,678
General Info:
First of the Post WW2 cars. 583cc two cylinder rear engine. 23-30bhp. Two doors and 4 seats but not much rear leg room.

The major difference between these models is very limited:
The Prinz II was a luxury version of the Prinz I. Because of the very low price of the Prinz II, hardly any Prinz I's were sold. The Prinz I lacked the chrome lining, had painted instead of chrome fenders, and the interior was only available in two colors: grey or green.

Also, there were several extra's avialable for the Prinz II: two-tone paint, white-wall tires, sliding roof, and american style fenders (which were very popular on VW Beetles).

In September 1960, the Prinz III was introduced. The major cosmetic changes were already done to the Prinz II and 30, but new colors were available. This new model had what was later called "Prinzair" - hollow rubber blocks that helped the rear shock absorbers. The back seat was moved back a little, creation more room inside the car, and reclining chairs became standard.
