I got my second Micra on 1 August 1996. It was a 1.3SR in Ougon Gold
("ougon" is the Japanese word for the color of ears of rice ready
to be harvested). It was pretty good fun; below 4000 rpm it was a bit
sluggish, but it was no problem keeping it above that it where it was pretty
brisk, and because of its low weight, it was nimble with plenty of grip; the
only problem is that it's height tends to result in a lot of body roll. And
the autochanging CD player was lovely! I liked the "sporty" seats too; they
weren't full-blown bucket seats but they did have sufficient side and seat
lips to hold you firmly if you cornered hard. (I find most car seats don't
grip my backside very well and I feel like I'm going to slide sideways off
the seat. Perhaps I just drive round corners too fast.)
The SR was the 1996 version of the old Super S (it's now called the Si), with a rear spoiler, larger front bumper, powerful driving lamps, stiffer suspension and 175/60R13 tyres, sporty seats, and a green instrument panel. Honest, the dials are green; see the picture. Apparently these dials cost a completely outrageous 375 and that's before you add VAT!
The only extras I had were some mats, headlight protectors, and the 10 disc CD autochanger (a Sony CDX-51RF). I wanted ABS brakes too but you couldn't get them without also having power steering, which I didn't like. Oh well.
