London 1972 (from the dark side of the moon): One of the earliest performances of the Dark Side cycle. The cycle is longer, slower and contains more loops and sounds than the final product. Interesting. The sound quality is the best for this particular date. As for the Floyds, their harmonies and performance have not yet developed the tightness heard in the final product released more than a year later. You can't tour with the new material before recording it these days folks...you'll be "bootlegged out of existence." |

Atom Heart Mother Goes On the Road: I like this recording (live in Paris Theater 3.10.71) not only because of its sound quality, but it captures the Floyds in their Saucerful-Atom Heart-Echoes transition. There's a nice track called Embyo that was never heard until "Works" came out. A good setlist to have before Pink Floyd went out and did the Dark Side stuff, seldomly performing some of these gems again. |

The Floyds of London: Some cool tracks from the BBC sessions back in Sept. 1971. Key things to note here is the metallic package it came with and also the first performance of Echoes (or so I've heard). Nice CD for the Floyds in that transitional period. |

The Sights and Sounds of Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd: Pretty much of a hodge-podge of the Floyds during the Syd days. Highlights are the different versions of singles like Flaming, Interstellar OD at the UFO club...cool, and other gems like Apples and Oranges and Vegetable Man (Syd's last written tune for Floyd). There's some BBC stuff of Syd and a rare performance (probably the only) of him doing Octopus. The audibles with some of these tracks are crap. Some good Piper stuff (Astronomy Domine live at Queen Eliz. Hall), but also some Syd stuff that's been reissued before. A nice starter despite some questionable sound quality. |

Oakland Coliseum 9/5/77: A great setlist on this double CD where disc one is pretty much the Animals stuff while disc two has the Wish You Were Here tracks with some tunes from Dark Side and surprisingly, Careful With That Axe Eugene. The sound quality is very good with a few dropouts and fades here and there, but perhaps the best part of this setlist is the group's enthusiasum, ironic during that time. Although Waters is still adamant about a "silent beginning" for certain numbers, this concert is a must for collectors. Might be the best of the '77 tour. |

A CD Full of Secrets: This is a good collection to have if you don't have "Masters of Rock Vol. 1" with all those other Floyd early singles that are not on Relics. It also has some tracks from "Zabriskie Point," new versions of Money and When The Tiger Broke Free. In addition, there are also some tracks from their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. Not too shabby for a collection of erratic songs. Cool picture of all five of 'em on the cover when things were so simple back in the day. |

Rotterdam-October 12, 1967: I actually have this on vinyl and it's interesting with tracks like "Reaction in G" and "Scream Thy Last Scream." There has been some debate whether this performance was actually in Holland. The sound quality is crap and the voices are barely audible, but an interesting period for the Floydians. A Saucerful of Secrets is also played here....perhaps its first appearance on a Floyd setlist. |

Vancouver 1975: A good set, with some crowd and hiss. Raving and Drooling and You've Got to be Crazy are present in this relatively short CD. However, collectors should read the next entry on the next page. |
