| Let it be known that in the beginning there were the Beatles. Zeppelin, the Stones, or Nirvana may be your personal savior to music, but the Beatles were the so called "Big Bang" that started our musical universe. Elvis was the icon, Dylan a visionary poet if you will, but John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were the band. They wrote, sang and played their own music....the OG do it yourself rebel rockers. Elvis was a rebel from the neck down...shaking his arse, but I guess never understood why. In his head, he still was in the old world, and wound up as a narc for Nixon. Dylan was a rebel from the neck up. His incredible lyrics were intellectually stimulating, but was musically wedded to folk tradition. No killer beat to get you off your chair. The Beatles were heart, body and soul....they also were like us. You couldn't look like Elvis or come up with lyrics like Dylan, but you could form a band eh? They're probably the band of the century. So without further ado, let introduce to you the band that you've known for all these years...... |

| I won't indulge you with the releases that we all know. Instead, a short documentary of some of the Bootlegs and Imports...a taste for those yearning for the "out of the ordinary." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The bigger Beatles Bootleg labels in the past have been Vigotone, Spank Records, Yellow Dog, and Swinging Pig. Lately however, during the past several years, there has been an increase of new labels. Here are some of the beatlegs that I've picked up over the years. Mach Schau! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Turn Me On Dead Man - The John Barret Collection: One of the latest arrivals. Compiled by former Abbey Road engineer, the late John Barret, are a variety of track that pretty much covers their era in the Abbey Road studio. Most of these selections were discovered in the vault and remastered and remixed during 1982. This double CD has many unreleased tracks as well as a new twist to familiar ones. Many collectors say that the CDs sound almost as eerie as the title suggests. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Kinfauns to Chaos: This is the most complete Escher demo recordings up to date. This 2 CD set captures several tracks from the Anthology 3 set as well as other unreleased gems from George's pad in the spring of '68. Not since it's predecessor, the "Whiter Album" has there been such an excellent release of those "almost-ready for the final mix" acoustic tracks and demos. The second CD is crap with Yoko talking over the Rev. 1 recordings. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Get Back-Glyn Johns Compliation: In case if you're wondering, there have been quite of few of these "Let it Be" material released in the past. Mine has over 20 tracks with different outtakes. However, for those who do not want to partake in the crusade, this "Get Back" acetate-like CD would be worth your while. In my opinion, although one of the better CDs from those sessions, I would start with their pre-Get Back sessions if $$$ is tight. It's also nice to hear this stuff w/o Phil's orchestral arrangement. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Complete Abbey Road Rooftop Concert: As Beatles bootlegs go, this is really for completists. Along with the "Get Back" sessions, there are several versions of this concer that have been prev. released. In my opinion, it would be pretty hard to digest the $$$$ for this 2CD compliation. The single disc version exists (I actually have one) that edits all the technical, instrumental problems and all the multi- takes of some songs like "Get Back." With that in mind, this concert captures the Fab's final live performance on Jan.30, 1969. Schucks!!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Shea & Candlestick Park: This single disc of these two historical concerts is the best bang for the $$. The Shea concert was the '65 opener for the Fab. The sound quality is better than one would expect from the screaming 56K fans, the limited recording technology, and the unprecedented size of venue. The Beatles could barely hear themselves play. The Stick's sound quality however, is better which is a grand way for the Fab to perform their last scheduled U.S. gig. They were tired of touring by this time which is why this performance is not as engaging as the Shea. Nevertheless, for collectors this is a must!!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
