| Welcome to the world of Rocketry. To start with you will need to purchase the right gear. But don't worry, you can get started in this exciting new hobby for under 30 which is not expensive considering you are sending something up hundreds of feet, in less than 5 seconds before returning to earth safely under its parachute. Then you just need to repack the parachute, put some more recovery wadding in, load it with a new motor (engine) and then back to the launch stand. The best course of action for you at the moment would probably be to buy a beginners rocket kit which contains more or less everything you need to launch your first rocket* including an easy to build rocket, a launch stand, a launch controller, complete instructions, a copy of the N.A.R Rocketry code and in some cases, some motors and recovery wadding. There are 2 companies that produce starter kits and they are Estes and Quest. If you find it at all hard to purchase a kit, I recommend Deepsky Rockets (www.modelrockets.co.uk). They will not only sell you a top quality Starter Kit, they will also give you advise on exactly which kit to get and answer any questions (by e-mail) you might have. The site also has pictures of every rocket they sell so that you can see it before you buy it. I personally recommend for a Starter Rocket, the Quest Falcon, which I found extremely easy to build and launch, as well as being more or less invincible, in case things go wrong (Which sometimes happens). If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me them on: [email protected]. I will then answer them as well as I can. I hope I have helped you get started in the Fascinating hobby of Model Rocketry.
