Accommodation Information
Important information for the French Alps sections
The accommodation information has been obtained from a variety of sources and all
options listed are believed to exist in June 2002 when the list was produced.
However, as we all know, things change and it is recommended that readers intending to
use these addresses as a basis for their own planning should verify that new
accommodations have not opened or existing ones closed. Do not rely entirely on
information contained in the topo guides. They are not updated each year and can
only list information believed to be accurate when they were released.
Over the months we have taken to plan these sections, we have found three
reliable sources of accurate information for accommodation:
The website www.office-de-tourisme.org
lists information on all the tourist offices, in particular, all the tourist offices
in France. Each listing usually contains accommodation details for hotels as well as
campings and gites d'etapes. Also included is contact information for the tourist office
and often includes a website and an email address.
There are a number of websites devoted to providing information on campings in France.
The one that for me has been the most reliable and has the most information is
Camping France
A most reliable source of information on refuges and gites is the website
Guides to Gites and Refuges.
Serge Mouraret does a great job of keeping the information on this site up to date.
