Jim attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel elementary school and St. Louis University High School.
At age five, Jim �sick for three months with a serious lung infection that almost killed him.
At age 13, Jim learned to play blues guitar , and he continues to play on his favorite guitar, Gibson 1969 Hummingbird.
Jim studied for the priest hood in a seminary, and was even a professional shepherd at one point
Jim studied acting at Boston University and St.Louis University.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in the late 1960s, spending nearly a year in Vietnam where he served in the 196th Light Infantry Division.
Jim lost both his legs in an automobile accident on February 26th 1972.
Jim won a JUNO in 1996 for Best Blues/Gospel Album and a Leo award as Best Supporting Actor on 'Highlander'.
In 1995, Jim was inducted into the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame .
