Sweet Escape

Blissful tranquility gradually descends

Mercifully a captive within its black abyss

In the distance I hear your well-known words as echoes

Finally relief…as their fainter sounds I hear

In the quiet of the night no one sees my tears slip by

At last succumbing…now there is nothing

Only sweet escape

Hands of time elapse as imminent dawn creeps closer

From windows light recognizable shapes slowly emerge

With clenched fists I close my eyes as tight as they can be

Daybreak forcing me to life’s presence once again

Sweet arms of nights escape have vanished much too fast

Faded tranquility forgotten as turmoil of reality surrounds me

My sweet escape now gone

Time passes before me and soon today will be forever gone

It shall become yesterday…vanished with the break of dawn

Eyes within my mirror reflect only darkened shadows of echoed memories

Remnants of days gone and forever lost…carried on the winds of time

Yet imprisoned by their chains…I exist on waves of sheer despair

Trying not to crumble like shattered glass upon marble floor

I search for an escape

Darkness descends as another night draws near…blackened memories now surface

For hours come the sleepless tortures of dreadful memories and pain

Through this sea of darkness I hear your voice as merciless echoes

As if cruel whispers sent by you…awaiting an answer that is lost in endless silence

Trying not to listen as thoughts wander through my darkened nights of pain

Cringing as they burn through many abandoned corridors of time.

Desperately in need of an escape

Sleepless amid my torment of misery and pain

Unending anguish as your echoes resound inside my mind

Enclosing fast…this enemy deep within

Reaching out for nights escape to dismiss this pain I’m in

Finally relief as I am powerless…embraced beneath its heavy shroud of sleep

My last sweet escape now here

Entombed in ever-lasting peace…now final
