| Three Women at the Tomb c. 1346 |
|||||||||||||||||
| Ferrer Bassa was a Spanish painter/miniaturist who is considered the founder of the Catalan School (group of artists). He was active from 1324 to 1348, however, there are few works around today that can be positively identified as his own. The only real artwork we know for sure was his is the series of frescos in the chapel of S. Miguel in Pedralbes convent, Barcelona. His style had strong Italian tendancies (he especially admired and imitated the work of Giotto) and was adopted by his son and many others in the Catalan School. | |||||||||||||||||
