| GOALS: Create a drawing on a flat piece of paper using perspective to trick the eyes to see an illusion of three dimensional space. OBJECTIVES: In this lesson students will learn how to use perspective in their drawing and painting to create the illusion of depth. Students will learn that there are 3 straight lines. The lines are horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. SUNSHINE STATE STANDARDS VA.A.1.3.2 Using refinement and control in handling tools and materials in a safe and responsible manner. VA.B.1.3.3 Understands and distinguishes multiple purposes for creating works of art. MATERIALS Paper Color Pencils Ruler Eraser Computer (Internet) PROCEDURES: First the students will begin by writing in their "Art of the Day" journal. Next on the black board I will show them the basic of one point perspective and how to start out with a horizon and a vanishing point. I will talk specifically about convergence lines, horizon line, vanishing point, and orthogonal lines.Once the students have a good understanding of perspective drawing, I will show them a video called "Basic Perspective Drawing". The students will have to take notes from the video and turn in to me at the end of the video. Next The class will go to the library to use the computers. They will use the internet to log on to the perspective drawing tutorial. The students will work on the tutorial and take notes. By the time the students return to class they should be ready to start the project. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT There is only one computer in the classroom therefore the class will take a trip to the library to use the computer. Once the students are on the computers they will visit the site that have the step by step tutorial on perspective drawing. They must take notes in their sketch book. ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION Students will be evaluated through teacher evaluation of final project and group critique.
