The College Years
1992-95
Well, it was the fall of 1991, and I was now a freshman at Kent State University majoring in Aerospace Flight Technology.  There were two things about KSU, well college in general, that made a permanent impact on my life; the militant pro-black experience, which up until about three years ago was a very pervasive part of my life, and Greek letter fraternities and sororities, particularly the ones governed by the National Pan Hellenic Council.  When I wasn't going to classes, I was letting these two things soak into my mind and intellect and have an influence on me.  Whether it was a beneficial or deleterious influence is debateable.  Perhaps that was the inspiration for me joining the Epsilon Psi chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity.  I asked a friend of mine if he belonged to a Greek Letter Organization (GLO), and he told me Alpha Phi Omega, explaining that it was a service fraternity.  Well, all the years prior I had done nothing but community service, so I thought it was an ideal fit for me.
