5/12 - PCOTC AKC Trial - at FDR Park - Excellent A JWW Q2

Its a dreary day and Magic had Table problems on both her Standard runs that weekend. Saturday she was slow in JWW, but might have Q'ed had her handler not erred and let her take a wrong jump after a Chute.

As she was being led into the ring, she realized that she had to pee. Big Handler error! Well I wont say she was still in the ring (which is elimination), but all eyes were on the prior dog. Now the judge started yelling that we were supposed to be ready and waiting, so I hurried back in the ring, but her leash was wet and got tangled. I threw the leash off, but she was on my left. She looked like she wanted to sniff, so I took off. I Rear Crossed before Jump 2 and she was a little slow after Jump 3. I was worried that she might shut down after the Rear Cross, so I called her over 4 and into the tunnel. I kept her on my left over 6, so I could pull her to the correct side of Jump 8. I went around Jump 10 rather than risk another Rear Cross. She spun after 10, but she was far from the Triple. I ran past her as she spun. She made the Weave entry (there was plenty of distance from the Triple) and I beat her to the 16 Tunnel so I could Pull her in. She came out of the Tunnel, took the 17 a little slow (probably because I was stopped), so I worried about the last 2 Jumps, but she finished well.

Magic was the only dog to Qualify out of 25 big dogs in Excellent A. It was encouraging that she ran so well (4.14 YPS including 12 Weaves) on the 2nd run of the day. (Over 4.00 YPS is important because USDAA Masters Jumpers is 4.00-4.25 YPS, but has no weaves)

2nd win in a month after I thought she would never win again. This was the first Q where she single-stepped through the Weaves really well.
