Meanwhile on Moonbase 1, Jazz and Cliffjumper looked out into space. Bearing down on them was a monstrous planet shape: Unicron!
"Where'd that come from?" cried Jazz
"Who care?" shouted Cliffjumper. "I'm more worried about where it's going!"
Jazz quickly transmitted a message to Earth where the Autobots were repairing the battered Autobot City. Blaster picked up on the faint signal as the Autobots gathered to listen to Jazz's voice.
".....A gi-normous, weird-looking planet just showed up in the suburbs of Cybertron......and it's attacking Moonbase 1"
The transmission ended.
Back at Moonbase 1, Jazz and Cliffjumper raced to their shuttle and blasted off as Unicron's giant claws gripped the moon and began to drag it towards a vast circular opening. As the shuttle moved away, Moonbase 1 was crushed to fragments and sucked inside. The shuttle with Jazz and Cliffjumper, with engines still in full power was pulled back inside also.
Spike and Bumblebee watched in horror from Moonbase 2. They had to do something. The base contained a great store of explosives. Setting a timer, they blasted clear in their shuttle. Unicron headed towards Moonbase 2. Once more his claws gripped, and drew into the other moon. The explosion was tremendous. For a second, Spike and Bumblebee on their escape ship thought they had destroyed the monster planet. As he looked closer however, Spike realised Unicron wasn't even dented. The next moment they in turn were sucked into the interior of the metal planet.

"Dad!" Daniel sat on Arcee's shoulders and watched helplessly as the video monitor screened the fate of Moonbase 2.
The Autobots considered their course of action.
"May be the Matrix can stop it." Ultra Magnus said.
"You're right; it can!" Hot Rod cried, ".....I've just for this feeling..."
"Look!" Springer cried suddenly as he pointed towards a fleet of Decepticon ships. Led by Galvatron, the Decepticons ruthlessly bombarded the scattering Autobots.
"To the shuttles!" Ultra Magus ordered.
The Autobots ran dodging Decepticon fire, and hoped to reach their ships and save Cybertron before it was too late. Despite the Dinobots lumbering, the Autobots managed to board two space shuttles and blasted off immediately. Soon they left the Decepticons far behind. This gave the Autobots a chance to rest.

But only a chance! Galvatron redirected his forces and bore down upon the Autobot ships. The fight was fast and furious. Galvatron sent Cyclonus to cripple the Dinobots' ship. Those in Ultra Magnus' ship watched helplessly as the other shuttle spun away trailing smoke and flames. Galvatron then set loose a barrage of torpedos aimed at Magus' ship. Thinking quickly, Ultra Magnus called for emergency separation, ignoring Perceptor's protests. The ship divided behind the cockpit. His intention was to draw the Decepticon fire power to the larger part of the ship - away from the cockpit holding the Autobots. The Autobots watched as the rockets completely destroyed the back of the ship. The Decepticons watched the smoke and debris flying past.
"The Autobots have been terminated!" reported Scourge.
"Excellent." Galvatron believed the Matrix of Light was also destroyed.
