A THOUSAND TULIPS

If blossoms were all violet
would we live in purple shades?
If daisies were all made of steel
would our lives be sharp as blades?
If roses weeped their colours
would we have a painted sea?
If tulips laughed 1000 times
wouldn't life be lovely?

If lilies danced to frozen tunes
would our lives be cold as ice?
If the fig had leaves of money
would we care to pay the price?
If an iris lost it's chance to speak
would our silence last too long?
If tulips played 1000 flutes
it's the life where I belong!

If an oaktree played upon a breeze
would our lives be blown away?
If bluebelles held the only key
would that really make us stay?
If a pansy lost it's beauty
to a torn and broken moon
If a tulip touched 1000 souls
would we even fill a room?

If a child had just one tulip
to keep forever dear
Would they throw it far away
or hold it safe and near?
If a thistle lay in a desert
would our lives be vast and dry?
Would 1000 tulips be able to
replace these tears I've cried?
