Yesterday I longed for sunshine
but all I saw was rain
those thunderous dark looming clouds
following me again.
This sadness overwhelms me
Burrows deep into my soul
I wonder how I could have thought
two parts would make a whole
Salty tears from bitter times
make wedges in my heart
The happiness has paid it's due
playing havoc as we part!

Two separate lives on different paths
two journeys set to find
The memories linger too many hours
so far in distant minds
I cannot stay with broken wings
I need an even light
Unlock this cage that has me bound
and let my soul take flight!
