Magic's Top 10 Red Legends

I dunno, I'd really like to showcase the new card search. It's a great, working script, but I find it strange not to have the oracle text under each card. The oracle text is one of the handiest tools in existence, it adds so much clarification to a card (see a future article I plan to write). Sure you can click wizards for the wizards cardsearch, but I have a more direct link to it. So to get to the point I am putting links to the old cardsearch on this page as well as the new. Click the number next to the card for the old cardsearch.

These are the top 10 red creature legends, not that there are many other types of legends. Seemingly red has few legends that aren't multicolour (like
Bladewing the Risen). Actually, most legends are multicolour.... enough blab.
#10. Maraxus of Keld
At first glance, he's enormous. Huge. He's 6/6 for your lands alone + mayb 4/4 for your creatures and 1/1 for himself. You forget, however, that untapped is a key word of death. If you tap out, he dies. And in most aggressive decks, where you'd find Maraxus, a spell is played and an attack declared each turn, guaranteeing near tapping out. Another card with potential, but I'd prefer
Multani, Maro Sorcerer for beats.
#9. Eron the Relentless
Eron is an interesting card. Think
Ball Lightning, reusable without trample and a lot more expensive. So in other words nothing like Ball Lightning. Still, if you're playing burn and can't afford Ball Lightning or
Blistering Firecat or some other psycho trample maniac, Eron is a good option. Especially if you're good at
blasting all the blockers out of the way (regenerate).
#8. Jeska, Warrior Adept
Jeska is one of those solid, decent legends that can help a deck more than one expects or realizes. Firstly, a 3/1 first strike is the typical 4 mana card.
Halberdier and
Battering Craghorn are 3/1 first strikes. Haste is a good ability in any case, 4 mana for a 3/1 haste is not unusual. To have both abilities is awesome. Really awesome. But the best part is the pinging ability. Haste means that ability can be played the first turn, making it even better. Also, for blocking Jeska is equivilant to a 4/1 first strike (in other words, really really good).
#7. Starke of Rath
This guy is good purely for the fact he destroys things. Destroying things is one of the funnest thing to do. Try comboing him with
Brand or some other similar card to keep blowing up those pesky beasts. I've never played with or against him, but I bet he'd reap absolute havoc in multiplayer games. Like a reusable
Chain of Acid for creatures. And if the good-for-no-fun-spoilsports use him to destroy himself, just burn them to death for wasting a huge opportunity.
#6. Tahngarth, Talruum Hero
This is one of those cards you might pass over only to take a second glance at. And my second glance at this card revealed a mana efficient, powerful, deadly awesome card. After the first turn, you attack every turn. Then, even if you're not blocked, you use the second

ability to pop off a blocker or another pesky creature. Or you save the ability for when the opponent attacks. This card is just plain good. And I was going to rate it 10th. Shame on me.
#5. Latulla, Keldon Overseer
Unfortunately (if you were impatient and going from bottom up), now we start to get into the less good red legends... Am I kidding? Latulla is a semi-large creature with a reusable
Blaze attached. A
REUSABLE BLAZE? Blaze kicks. Blaze is awesome simply. Although more vulnerable than a single blaze spell, Latulla hits the poor fools for X damage each turn... gosh I just thought of a new deck. Take my Ceta Storm deck and add Latulla instead of
Meteor Storm. Discard abilities are an awesome way to abuse flashback or madness, and Latulla is psycho. Boom!
#4. Kamahl, Pit Fighter
POP! Reusable
Lightning Bolt. Big power. Tiny toughness. Look out for that
Serra Zealot. For all you who think this is perhaps overpriced or that the p/t sucks, think of the damage you could deal. Pop their blockers off then attack each turn for 6. This would be a good way to abuse
Mind over Matter, in addition the hundreds of other ways, but doing an instant kill is very fun in any event.
#3. Márton Stromgald
I had never seen or known this card before I did my research for this article. My first reaction was " ". This is one of those HOLEY CRAP WHY DID THEY PRINT THAT CHEAP THING! cards. This card pumps your armies to near invincible p/t. But... it's only 1/1. For a red
Overrun, it's really really good, but you can count on it dying. That's why it get's only 3rd place on my list.
#2. Rorix Bladewing
I'm surprised there aren't more dragon legends on this list. Strangely this is the only pure red dragon legend in existence. And strangely, it's also one of the best red cards ever printed. For those of you who dislike Rorix, although he is the plainest of the pit fighter legends, he's a) A 6/5 for 6 b) Haste c) Flying. If you didn't get that, I'll repeat in other terms. 6 unblockable damage every turn for 6 mana, including the first turn. Air Elemental will only delay it. A comparable blue card,
Mahamoti Djinn, is very similar, but doesn't have haste. Sometimes huge creatures are the best way to go.
#1. Squee, Goblin Nabob
This card can fuel so many combos it deserves to be #1. It comes back, every turn, for

absolutely noting. Sure it's not as big as
Eternal Dragon, but heck, any card that's free does so much to MTG it's amazing. The combos include anything involving discard, or even sacrificing, from the annoying
Wild Mongrel to the game winning
Solitary Confinement, the lockdown of
Braids, Cabal Minion or the huge
Devouring Strossus and hundreds more. There are so many possibilities.
Those possibilities include other top 10 legend articles in the near future. I look forward to sifting through the 50+ multicolour legends (dragons, dragons, slivers, dragons... lol). And I'll be writing an article on something else soon too.
