Milled Fate

By trouble_fish

Seeing as most of the articles will focus on commons or uncommons, I thought I'd share one of my own I just rediscovered.

I'm not sure, but I believe this is the only card in Magic that allows you to sort your opponent's library. And sorting your opponent's library is perfect for milling (decking in some circles).

If you have two of these sometimes hard to find rares you're set.

The other thing is you need some mana. Check out the wirewood superman combo article by Fetar or use Upwelling or elves.

With any of these combos, we have colour problems. Fortunately, there's a handy bunch of cards in Scourge that can solve any colour problems almost instantly (think landcycling). Just stick 2 of each land you need in your deck and enough of the landcycling cards and you're set. It's even more efficient if you have the dual lands that are multiple basic lands like Bayou, Tropical Island, and Underground Sea. Then you can use Twisted Abomination to fetch both your Forest and your Swamp. However, since I don't have those cards I won't use them in the deck.

Now we have the elves:

Ah, the Quanar. Very good for copying the sealed fate if you have not the mana. Note I did not include the superchanneler combo. I have a deck that runs around it and it is quite sick to see in action. Wins too many games for my tastes. The elves are not critical, they just have to produce mana and fuel the priest. Replace them with any mana producing elf you like. Sylvan Safekeeper, Thundercloud Elemental, Lost in Thought, etc. are there to stop the enemy long enough for their library to disappear.

Landcycling can be fun too. Add upwelling and defend it like heck.

Upwelling needs to be protected. I repeat, you die instantly if you stock up 40 mana and then it dies. Shield of the ages is a great mana sponge just in case.
Note: this deck is theoretical, as I don't have upwelling. Therefore, I also put in some other cards I don't own, like extra shields, propaganda and flood.

Also, a word on prices. These prices were obtained from the MTG Council price guide and, if that section was not finished, AnyCraze.com, where most of our prices come from. I find the prices at AnyCraze ridiculously high. Avoid Fate; $4? I got mine for .25, and I had a choice of language. So don't be intimidated by the deck prices. You can find this deck for far cheaper elsewhere.

Have fun with instant decking. It may be hard to win games, but it's fun when you do.
