When Onslaught came out, I noticed a couple strange cards; Erratic Explosion and Kaboom!. Those were great! I built a deck around them. Now, Scourge comes out and lookit! There's so many great cards/combos! I build the deck around the explosive cards because they're the cards that kill.
Both these cards are red. To support them, high mana cards are used. Green and blue are the best colours to combo with red in this case, but probably only one of the two. I'd use other high damage cards like Searing Flesh, and cards that can cost less, but are good likeAvatar of Might. Cards that cost less, like some morph cards, are a good choice; Venomspout Brackus and one of the best new Scourge cards, Ancient Ooze. A good high mana combo is ROTW and Tunnler Wurm. Goretusk Firebeast is also good in this situation.
To support all these high mana cards, I'm going to use some higher mana land search (Explosive Vegetation, Skyshroud Claim). The new landcycling cards are very good, as they all have a high cost (Wirewood Guardian, Elvish Aberration, Chartooth Cougar, Shorline Ranger). Mana producers are impractible because they cost too little. I can't find any high mana enchantment destroyers, the best I've found are Tranquil Path and Nantuko Vigilante. To add to the burn, use expensive cards like Lightning Surge.
Blue, with the new Scourge cards in mind, is now I believe a better supporting colour. If using blue, use some of the red cards mentioned above, and add cards like that are have high casting cost but can be accelerated. Blue beatdown and defense is also good; Air Elemental comes to mind. Add expensive draw cards like Ancestral Memories, and Heightened Awareness.
With blue, however, the focus should be on more theme cards. I like Psychic Battle, because this deck will have to a tendancy to win the battle. Now, of the new Scourge cards, for blue/red they include Rush of Knowledge and Torrent of Fire. As high mana cost, I'd also use the new Scourge; Scornful Egotist, the landcycling cards, Thundercloud Elemental, the good decrees (Decree of Silence, Decree of Annihilation).
The other idea for blue is to use cards like Index and Spy Network. Although this might work, I'm too lazy to type more about it.
So here's the two decks. Adding the cycling lands can help with any card problems. These are fun decks for casual play. They may not have what it takes to suceed in tournaments, but they might scrape by. Replace some of the rares with your favourite high mana cards if you have difficulty obtaining them.
