Emperor Games
By: Flame4003

During an emperor game 6 people must be present to play. Out of those six people, they are divided as liked between 2 separate teams. Each team should have 3 people, and one of those will be elected as an emperor. It is the generals jobs not to let the emperor die. Even if a general is still alive, the game will be over. The rules are fairly simple. Your spell range is limited to each person beside you. So if you are the emperor, you can only target your generals. If one of the generals is lost during a battle, the general closest to the emperor is able to attack him/her. Each player still has 20 hp at the begging of the game, and the same rules that apply in regular magic games.

Spell Range 101

In an emperor game it is usually a good thing for the generals to have a huge army, and the emperor to aid each of their generals. In doing this, the emperor should have a cleric deck with Master Apothecary or cards that stay in their spell range on person on their sides. It would be a bad idea to play Armageddon or Cataclysm as an emperor, or even as a general. This would kill all of your allies and your own creatures, while not affecting the other teams creatures.

Strategies that dont work in an emperor game

Possibly the worst strategy in the game of magic for emperor games would be a counter spell strategy. This would seize of the one of the generals, however, when you kill that general, yourself will be left with a massive army against you with no defence from it. This will then lead your emperor against emperor battle. If the generals do their own jobs properly, then these situations wont have to occur during a game. The only way for a counter spell strategy to work is if both generals are using this strategy until an emperor has an instant win card, or strategy. Another strategy that does work is having an emperor with a quick kill deck. By the time that the generals are dead, he will not be able to defend himself against other creatures and spells. It is best for an emperor to use a defence-aid deck to assure his team a victory. However, if a general is killed on that emperors side, then he/she will be vulnerable from attacks.
The funniest part of all in emperor games is to see the other team struggling about how they cant help the other teammates because of the spell range. It is definitely a type of magic game to play. I found it both interesting and fun to play.
