Bedside Table
Based on a project from the book, "The New Dolls' House Do It Yourself Book", by Venus and Martin Dodge

Materials/Tools Needed:
wooden or plastic chess piece
saw or Dremel
sandpaper
thin obeche, oak, or similiar wood, large enough to make a table top from
pencil
wood stain and disposable foam brush
clear varnish
wood glue or hot glue gun and low temperature glue sticks
1. Begin by sawing off the top decorative part of the chess piece. This is to create a flat surface for the table top.
2. Choose a round object, such as a cup, half a plastic egg, a plastic lid from a shampoo bottle, etc. to trace around to create the table top.
3. Set the round object onto the piece of wood and trace around it, being careful to keep the tip of the pencil right up against the side of the round object for a perfectly round circle.
4. Cut out the circle along the line you traced.
5. Sand off all cut edges. You may also wish to sand the top and bottom surfaces of the wood circle as well using very fine grit sandpaper. Be sure to wipe off the wood to remove all dust and shavings.
6. Stain the table top on both sides and the edges, then let dry.
7. Glue the table top to the top of the chess piece and let dry.
8. Give the entire bedside table 2 coats of clear varnish to protect and let dry!
