| Justin
has quite a number of big films to his credit. At 13, he was already
nominated as best actor during the 1998 Metro Manila Film Festival for
his role in Puso ng Pasko (Heart of Christmas). Quite
a feat for the chinky-eyed teener, whose entry into the movies was
rather "unplanned."
He was accompanying
his elder sister to the Viva Films office to audition for a role in legendary
Director Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes' movie Gangland, which they
read about in the Inquirer newspaper, when somebody egged him on
to join the audition. The decision was fortuitous-- he was the one who
passed ! Perhaps, it helped that, at age four, Justin was already
doing bit parts in the kiddie tv program Batibot. He
used to tag along with his sister, who was a mainstay in the show..
Justin is fond of
horror and fantasy movies. He counts Cesar Montano and Alec Baldwin among
his favorite actors. He dreams of flying fighter jets in the future. "When
I play video games, parang ang sarap tingnan, lalo na pag nagla-launch
ng missiles," (I love to look at it, specially when missiles
are launched) he says, beaming with youthful charm and innocence.
What if his parents
tell him to quit the movies? Justin says he would defer to them. For now,
he dreams of buying his own car from his earnings in the movies. |
