Janus del Prado
When broadcasting giant ABS-CBN, one of Asia's most admired companies, signed up former child actor Janus del Prado as one of it's talent artist they knew they got a future superstar at hand. Immediately, they gave him a leading role in one of the network's primetime dramas and he showed that he is really worth it. Now, he adds flavor to the popular cast of the country's leading teen show G-mik.
At 16 this flawless actor has already made 22 big films and countless commercials and made-for-tv-dramas in his 11 years in the business. Not surprising since he comes from a showbiz-oriented family: entertainment writer Pilar Mateo is his sister, bit player Amy Robles is his mom and former actor Renato del Prado is his dad. But he alone deserves all the credit for his success for nobody knew he was a son of an actor until much later. He just he never told anyone! Not even when he first auditioned to be an actor.
Actually, for the past 8 years, Janus hasn't seen the dad he but he doesn't have embittered feelings against him. Sadly, he says, "I don't know why but he's the one who's mad at me."
As the newest star of G-mik, Janus plays the spirited character Epoy who becomes the best friend of Tonsy, played by Miko Samson, who among the characters, is the one born with the silver spoon in his mouth. Thus, through Tonsy, Epoy becomes one of the gang or the barkada. Both loners at heart who tend their own business, Epoy and Tonsy find the need for each other as they tackle the everyday challenges.
Like Miko, Janus still gives priority to education in spite of his stardom. He even sends his older brother and sister to college. He himself is in third year high school.
Janus is one of the most admired young people of today's generation and he certainly deserves every bit of this admiration.
