Chapter 59, Homecoming

Once back in Orlando, Breanna slept for the first two days straight. No one saw or heard from her while she caught up on her much needed rest. Once she was awake, she spent all of her free time doing promotion or rehearsing for the homecoming concert.

The night of the actual show Brian dragged Breanna to a quiet restaurant where everyone else was waiting happily. Brian had taken the liberty to reserve the entire restaurant for two hours. Everyone talked about touring, the fun parts, the negative parts, the times when they wanted to throw Breanna off stage, and about the happy times. They toasted Breanna for a job well done with the finest champagne. Breanna took a little sip with a smile on her face then pushed the glass away. "Oh yeah guys, I lost my drinking partner. She's trying to cut back." AJ complained. Everyone gave AJ a sympathetic smile or a slight laugh. "Sorry, AJ! But if I was still drinking a lot you know I could drink your sorry ass under the table." "I wouldn't be complaining." AJ retorted with a sly grin on his face. Howie laughed in response as he sat next to Breanna. They spoke slightly but didn't mention what happened on the phone when she was in Vegas. "So, guys? What time is it." Breanna asked in a chirpy voice. It almost felt like old times again. "It's around 6:30." Howie replied glancing down at his watch. "Natasha! We're late!!" Breanna shouted as she dug for her purse under the table. Natasha's eyes grew wide and realized that she was right. The opening act went on stage at 7 o'clock and they had to be backstage getting ready. Natasha grabbed her purse and gave Nick a long kiss. "Oh get a room! You can do that tonight. Let's go!" Breanna stated. "Thanks guys for all of this. I love you all but we gotta go." Breanna explained as Howie handed Breanna her sunglasses that she almost left behind. "Thanks, D." Breanna said with a small smile on her face. "Okay, we'll see you a little bit later tonight." Kevin remarked with his arm around Eve's ever-so-expanding waistline. "Eve, you're gonna pop!" Breanna giggled as she took a moment to look her best friend over. But she had to admit, Eve was glowing. She and Eve had never wanted children but life had changed so much for them in the past three years. "I'll drive Bree since Brian brought you." Natasha stated. Breanna nodded her head to Natasha before turning back to everyone she loved. "See you guys! Wish us luck! Bye Thomas!! Throw me a good luck kiss, Hun." Breanna said as Thomas sat quietly stuffing his little face with everything he could. He had a very healthy appetite. "MUWAH!" Thomas shouted throwing Breanna a kiss as she pretended to catch it and place it on her cheek. Thomas's big blue eyes danced as he saw Breanna accepting his kiss. "Love you, Auntie!" Thomas shouted as Breanna turned to leave after giving every one a final wave. "You too, sweetie." She shouted.

Breanna and Natasha put on their first costume and looked themselves over in the mirror. They were happy but Natasha kept poking Breanna in the stomach. "You're supposed to do the Pillsbury Dough Boy sound. You know, woohoo!" Natasha teased. "Leave my gut alone. I just ate a huge dinner and now we have to go out there and work our asses off." Breanna replied smiling. Her stomach looked larger than normal after she ate dinner. Breanna was already used to Natasha's teasing. "I'll be right back. I want to see if Nick is here yet." Natasha stated as she left the room. Breanna watched Natasha with a smile on her face. She admired Natasha for her physical beauty but also because she was a wonderful person. "Nick got lucky and if he fucks that up, he's dead! He's never gonna hear the end of it." Breanna said aloud as she adjusted her pants. "Now you know why we've been nagging you about D." She heard Brian's voice say behind her. Breanna turned around and gave him a sheepish grin. "I know, I know. I tried talking to him and..." Breanna stopped in mid-sentence and turned around to look at herself in the mirror. "I know. He mentioned talking to you but I didn't ask him what happened. I figured if it was good he would have said something." Breanna nodded her head staring at the floor. "Hey, you better get going. I can hear the dancers in the hallway saying a final prayer. Go join 'em." Brian said pointing towards the hallway.

The show went better than Breanna thought it would. All of the people she loved most were there, including her brother and parents who flew in to surprise her. After she finished her set, she ran off stage to take a quick break while the crowd cheered for more. All the guys were backstage watching on the monitors and knew that Breanna was happier than she had been in a long time. She glanced at the guys, gave them a friendly smile and ran back onstage for an encore. She stood center stage staring out into the sea of people as the screamed and shouted. Eventually the voices died down considerably causing Breanna to smile. "Hey everyone! Before this concert and the entire tour is over, I want to sing a song that I didn't write though I wish I did. It's for all my friends and then some, who have loved and supported me through some hard times. My family, you loved me when no one else did and you believed in me even when I didn't. I love you all. And my three "sisters"! Eve, Izabel, and Natasha." Breanna said looking back at Natasha who was sitting on one of the speakers resting while Breanna spoke. "You have all put up with my crying, and whining and complaining about my guy problems and you've had nothing but the best advice to give. I'm slowly starting to take it, too. I love you three! Eve, hurry up and have that baby, girl! And Izabel, no more babies!" Breanna said laughing as she saw Izabel standing next to Brian nodding her head in agreement. Breanna sighed before turning her eyes to AJ. "I know I put you through hell on this tour, AJ. I'm sorry. Thank you for being one of the best big brothers. How you put up with everything I've thrown at you and still seem to love me I will never know, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Brian, what can I say? You've made me think and open my eyes. You've shown me what it's like to be able to have this type of career yet stay the same. And because of you, I just might stick around. You know what I'm talking about. I love you" Breanna said as she blew Brian a kiss to her right where he stood in the wings with a smile on his face accepting the kiss graciously. "Kevin, you have never pressured me into doing something you knew I didn't want to do. I know you wanted to, but you never did. You respected my wishes more than anyone else did. I love you, bro! Nick...oh boy! Kid bro, we have a lot more fun ahead of us. It took me almost three years to realize that you really are a good friend and one of the greatest artists out there. I've thought about your proposition and I think I just might do it. Thank you for seeing my dreams and putting them to music. And Howie..." Breanna started, but couldn't think of what to say. The crowd of fans cheered when his name was mentioned. They knew that there was something between the two; it had been rumored for over a year. "...we've been to hell and back and I was the driver. I'm sorry for everything I've done and said or haven't done or haven't said. You know me like no one else in the world and you are the reason I am here today living this life, being able to give my family and friends the things I, at one time, could only dream of giving them, and traveling to parts of the world were in the past I would have had to read their name on a map to know where they were. I don't know what else to say but thank you for everything you've done and tried to do when I wouldn't let you help me..." The crowd went nuts. "...and I love you." She whispered so no one else could hear. When the voices died down Breanna walked over to a small grand piano that stood in the middle of the stage and started to play something that wasn't familiar to anyone but Howie. She eventually got enough courage to sing.

"I want somebody to share
share the rest of my life
share my inner most thoughts
know my intimate details.
Someone who'll stand by my side
and give me support
and in return he'll get my support.
He will understand me when I want to speak
about the world we live in
and life in general.
Thought my views my be wrong
they may even be perverted
he'll hear me out and won't easily be converted.
To my ways of thinking
in fact he'll often disagree
but at the end of it all
he will understand me.
"I want somebody who cares for me passionately
with every thought and with every breath
someone who'll help me see things in a different light
all the things I detest I will almost like.
I don't want to be tied
to anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of those things.
But when I'm asleep I want somebody
who will put their arms around me and kiss me tenderly.
Though things like this
make me sick
in a case like this I'll get away with it."

Breanna finished singing as she continued to play the piano. "I love you." She said into the microphone but it had been turned off by the sound crew. "Great!" Breanna thought. "I finally get the nerve to say something, and they turn off my microphone." She stood up and walked over the edge of the stage and found an extra microphone while the crowd cheered. "That song was by Depeche Mode and a few words were changed around since they were originally singing to a woman. I hope you all liked it. Like all good things, this must come to an end. Hopefully I'll be back soon. Thank you all for your love and support! Goodnight!" Breanna shouted with a gleeful smile on her face. She quickly walked off the stage where everyone was waiting. She had tears streaming down her face. Everyone was waiting with open arms...except for Howie. He was no where to be seen. Breanna saw AJ first and walked up to him with her head bowed down as the tears continued to slide down her cheek. "Oh Breen..." He whispered as he rocked her in his arms allowing her to cry it out. She was tired from touring but the emotional strain of it finally being over was getting to her. She didn't like touring but once it was over, she didn't know what to do with herself. Breanna glanced up at AJ with questioning eyes. "He left two songs ago. His sister said it was important." AJ explained. Breanna nodded her head understanding that Howie always put his family first, a quality she loved about him.
