Chapter One, Hittin' The Road

*NOTE:   These are not short chapters.*

"Ready to go, B?" Eve shouted over the bedroom stereo. "Hell yeah, baby! I only turn 21 once!" Breanna called back. Eve rolled her eyes muttering "oh, this is going to be crazy! You realize it's legal for you to get alcohol? What in the hell was the government thinking when they made that law!" "Obviously, they didn't have me in mind." Breanna laughed. Breanna looked around her room to make sure she had everything. Las Vegas on her 21st birthday was a trip she and Eve had been planning since they both turned 19 exactly one month apart, Eve being the oldest. "So, got all of our CD's for the road, girl?" Eve asked. "Of course! I wouldn't even think about leaving them. So, should we put on Garbage first? Or Rob Zombie? How about a little Marilyn Manson or some U2? Oh, better yet, Depeche Mode!" "Breanna, you are too excited! We have plenty of time to listen to everything. Then again, the way you drive, we'll be out of LA and in Las Vegas before we even finish the first Depeche CD" Eve remarked. "Nah, I think I'll drive slow this time. I want to enjoy the scenery, especially the scenery that drives if ya know what I mean?" "Oh shit, that means we'll get into a couple of fender benders because you can't help but drool over the hotties driving by" Eve laughed. "You know me! I am one lean mean driving machine! I can drive AND drool at the same time while staying on the road. I *am* multi-talented, Eve" Breanna shot back. "Girl, I don't care how you drive, just get yo ass behind that wheel and let's go! I'm dying to see what our hotel room looks like. It's not every day we get to stay in one of the best hotel suites in all of Vegas." Eve said. "Ok, ok, we's a goin' right now, k? Now, dontcha get all up tight n' shit!" Breanna joked back in her best southern accent.

It was a warm March day and both girls were wearing their favorite spring dresses. Eve was 5'4 and extremely attractive for your typical girl-next-door. She had long black hair and brown almond shaped eyes and normally had her bangs covering them which constantly drove her best friend nuts. She normally opted for little to no makeup and today was no exception. She wore a cute, thin cotton yellow flowered dress she bought off the rack at Ross'. Breanna wore a plain baby blue sleeveless spring dress that was too short. She didn't care because she wanted to attract attention today. This would be her weekend. One for the books.

Breanna wasn't physically much different from Eve. People often assumed that they were sisters. She was two inches shorter than Eve, wore more makeup, and kept her hair short claiming that she was too lazy to take care of it if it were long. Breanna was also a shopping freak spending all of her money on clothes and makeup.

Eve and Breanna had been the best of friends since their junior year in high school. They were as different as night and day but at the same time they were exactly the same. Breanna was a party chick who would occasionally drink too much on the weekends when she went out with her other group of friends. She never liked staying home. Eve was more than happy to stay home on the weekends to watch some of the latest movies released on home video. Luckily, their taste in music was exactly the same. Modern rock and alternative. They boycotted MTV in their spare time for playing too much pop and never listened to the radio for the exact same reason. Their taste in men was different as well. Breanna prefer men with that exotic look and closer to her height. She claimed it was easier to kiss them. She was "a little loose with her lips" as Eve liked to say. Eve liked her men tall and white. She often joked "I like my men with two legs and a willie. And they don't even have to have two legs. Just a willie!" Their complete opposite tastes in men helped solve a lot of guy problems between them.

They finally managed to pile all of their things into Breanna's new Toyota Corolla. "My parents must love me! They took over my car insurance premium this year as a birthday present." Breanna said. "Wow! Your car insurance? That must be hella expensive!" Eve joked. "Shut da fuh up, girl!" Breanna shot back. They both laughed. Breanna was not exactly known to be the safest driver. Her favorite driving activities included "is da cop around?" and "oops, was it red?" but lucky for her she had never been in a car accident. She also had a bad habit of following the cute guys who drove past her. Breanna's excuse, "hey, he may be my future husband!" Eve learned to get in, sit down, and shut up. But, she had to admit, driving with Breanna was a lot of fun.

After two hours, they pulled over to get something to eat. They noticed a large looking bus in the McDonald's parking lot. "Must be some kinda tour bus. Maybe it's U2's" Breanna said dreamily. "Nah, we only wished. Anyway, what would you do if it was?" Eve asked "Oh simple," Breanna said as she took a sip of her coke. "I would go up to Larry Mullens and ask him to impregnate me" she joked. They both burst into giggles. "You have way too much time on your hands girl if you've been dreaming about *that*" Eve stated. "Yeah, all I do is hang around with you" Breanna said. "Ohhhhhooooo!!" both girls said together. "That was a good one, I gotta admit" Eve said. "Why thank you!" Breanna said. They enjoyed shooting each other down but they only did it in good fun and they always had a good laugh. "Well, we better get going. It's already 10am. I want to get there before noon." Breanna told Eve. "Ok, let's go" Eve said as she stood up. "Ohmigod! Who the hell is he and what the hell is he doing in a place like this???" Breanna said quickly under her breath as she stood up getting ready to head for the door. "Who?" Eve asked while looking around trying to find the mystery man. "Don't look! Don't look," Breanna said. "I don't want it to look obvious that I'm drooling over him. I might stroke his ego!" Breanna joked "Girl, if he's as good looking as you are making him out to be, he already has a huge ego" Eve commented. Finally Eve noticed the good looking man Breanna had been drooling over for the past thirty seconds. "Wow, B...he's exactly your type and he actually looks, um, nice". The man they were looking at was about 5'6 or 5'7, dark hair, dark eyes, and dark complected. Exactly what Breanna went after. "Yeah, he does look nice. Anyway, I'm not going to bother. We're in the middle of nowhere so I'm sure he isn't from around here. And if he is, we're not from around here anyway, right?" Breanna commented. "E? E! EVE!" Breanna shouted "Huh? WHAT?" Eve shot back. "What's wrong?" "Oh sorry girl, Greatness just walked into McDonalds" Eve commented. Breanna turned around to see a tall good looking guy in his mid to late twenties standing in line with a shorter, funky guy. "Oh...so you found a prince in the middle of nowhere, too?" Breanna joked. "Hell yeah, baby! I'd do him in a heartbeat!" Eve said while staring at the man. Breanna burst into giggles. "Well, I like his friend. He looks like fun!" Breanna said. "He's not your type!" Eve said in disbelief as she tossed their trash away. "No, he's not. But he looks like a lot of fun. A *friend*, Eve." Breanna explained. "Ohhhhh!" Eve said. Breanna wrapped an arm around her friends shoulder. "Girl, let's get going. That hamster in your head is working overtime on his little wheel you call a brain. And, we've spent what feels like a lifetime looking at two princes who are never meant to be." "Oh, so now you're a poet?" Eve said with a laugh as the two girls pranced out the door.

"She's cute" Howie commented to Brian. "Who is?" "That girl in the blue dress. I think she was checking you out. She was staring pretty hard" Howie replied. "Probably another fan checking *you* out" Brian laughed messing up Howie's hair as they walked out of McDonalds with their food in hand. "I really doubt that, Bri" Howie joked as they saw the two girls drive away blasting loud rock music and singing on the top of their lungs and laughing. "Bye guys!" Breanna and Eve laughed as they drove past the guys. "Um, judging by their music and age, I doubt they are, too" Brian laughed, "though I wish they were. YEOW!" he said loudly while biting his hand. "Ready to get back on the road, guys?" Kevin asked. "Yeah, sure. We only have, what, an hour left?" Howie asked. "Yeah, about that. The sooner we get there, the better. The fans probably think we'll be arriving sometime tomorrow anyway. More time for us to relax and have a little fun." Kevin stated. "You're right." Brian replied. "Let's get the hell outta here! It's too damn hot for March." Nick said to no one in particular as he ran out of McDonalds into the bus. "Yeah, I wanna get to Vegas, baby! Gambling, drinks, and beautiful ladies." AJ commented as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation of the fun he was planning to have. "Speaking of beautiful ladies, I saw some inside a minute ago. I wonder where they went." Kevin said looking around. "Short dress, dark hair, kinda short?" Howie asked as he stepped into the bus. "Yeah" replied Kevin. "Oh *those* ladies?" Brian said laughing. "You saw them too?" Kevin asked. "Yeah, they were cute." Howie mentioned. "One of them kept looking at me. I wanted to stare back at her, too, but she was probably another fan. I didn't want to give her the wrong idea or anything" Kevin said jokingly. "No, big bro, I doubt you would have. They weren't fans, trust me." Brian said laughing. "Huh?" Kevin said as he walked up the steps of the bus. "They drove past me and D a few minutes ago blasting some weird music. They weren't fans." Brian mentioned again in a hyper voice and a smirk on his face as he got in the bus behind Kevin. "I should have said hello to her. She was cute." Kevin said. "Which one was cute?" Howie asked cautiously as he sat down on the couch. "The one in the yellow dress" Kevin answered. "Oh, ok. Just wondering" Howie replied. Laughing, Kevin asked "Why D? Had your eyes set on one of them?" "No, man. I really didn't see the one in the yellow. I just thought the one in the blue dress was cute." "Oh she was fly! And her dress was a little too short. Definitely an attention getter. My type of girl!" AJ yelled from that back of the bus. "Bone, don't go off and get another boner because of another cute girl in a short dress. We still have another hour or so til we get to Vegas. Think you can contain yo'self?" Howie shouted back. AJ walked to the front of the bus were Howie was, looked down at the crotch of his pants, looked up and nodded his head. "An hour is a long time not seeing some pretty ladies, but I think I can pull it off."
