Chapter Five

Brian grabbed the doorknob and threw the door opened but was surprised to see that Nick wasn't around. "Oh hi." He greeted the girl who stood in front of him. Brian guessed her to be younger than he was and judging by the expression on her face, she wasn't happy. 'Definitely not a fan' He thought. "What the hell are you doing!?" She shouted. Brian was quickly taken aback by her sudden outburst. "Excuse me?" Brian questioned loudly over the music. "You're blasting your stereo like you own the fuckin' neighborhood!" She shouted back. Brian grabbed the remote off the bookshelf that sat a few yards away from him and turned the music down while "Everybody" streamed out of the speakers. "I'm sorry...but who are you?" Brian asked back. He was angry that someone who didn't even know him was shouting profanities at him. "Well, I'm supposed to be your new neighbor and I was promised that this was a quiet neighborhood but I guess I was gypped." She snapped. "Wait a minute...*you're* the new neighbor?" Brian questioned back. "Yes." She replied. "Where's your mom and dad?" Brian asked back. 'Two can play at that game.' He thought while he saw the anger welding up in her eyes. "Mom and dad? Says the one who plays teeny bopper music." Alexandra stated. "What? If only you knew." He replied as he felt his ego growing. "Whatever...just turn it down!" She demanded. "It's only 5 o'clock." He deadpanned. "I don't care if it's fuckin' 10 am! You're blaring your music and I can't hear myself think." She said. "You can actually think?" He insulted. "Just turn it down or I'll call the cops." She stated as she turned around on her heel to walk down the front steps. "Go ahead and call them. They won't do anything because it's not 2am yet!" He tried to explain as she started walking away. "If I call they will make you turn it down." "It's SATURDAY! And I do own the neighborhood." He stated because he knew that it would make her angrier. "You're a prick!" She shouted from across his lawn. "And you're a bitch!" He shouted back as he slammed his door.

Alexandra walked back quickly to her house and sighed once she got back inside. She slammed the door and threw her back up against the wall as she realized that her day of bliss in a new city was now over. "I'm in the twilight zone." She muttered as she looked around the fully furnished house. She walked around in a daze and stared at the furniture that didn't seem to possess any bit of herself. "It's mine, but it's not mine." She said as she let her index finger run along the backside of the nearest cream colored couch. She looked at her five suitcases and decided to unpack them before her things in New York arrived. She struggled to pull one of her suitcases upstairs as she felt her walls start to tremble again. "Prick" she muttered as she huffed and puffed her way upstairs. Once upstairs she pushed the large suitcase into the smallest bedroom. She dubbed it her "closet" the moment she saw it and was making good on her word. After unpacking the suitcase she went back downstairs to grab the others before she ran out of patience and energy.

"Hey! Where are you!?" Nick shouted as he strolled into Brian's house. Brian was sitting in the backyard on a swing as he glared at the house next to him. "What's up?" Nick asked as he stood next to Brian in the backyard. "Huh? Oh hey...I didn't hear you come in." Brian stated quietly. "How could you? The stereo's blaring." Nick pointed out. Brian smirked as he let out a small gasp of air. "What's so funny, dude?" Nick asked. "I met my new neighbor today." He said. "Really?" Nick asked with interest. "She's a fuckin' bitch." Brian stated as he walked back into the house with Nick on his heels. "Woah! What!?" Nick asked. Brian hardly ever used words like that to describe anyone, especially if it was a woman. "She came over ranting and raving about the stereo being too loud and she had the nerve to call me a prick to my face!" Brian shouted in explanation. "Was it too loud?" Nick asked back calmly. "Yeah, but she didn't have to come over yelling that I don't own the 'fuckin' neighborhood.'" Brian replied using his fingers as he quoted the neighbor. "But c'mon Bri, you had to have said somethin' that would piss her off!" Nick stated. "Yeah I did because she pissed me off first but she was the one who came over yelling at me!" Brian still couldn't believe that someone could be so rude. "Yeah, well...as I see it, it wasn't just her, it was you, too." Nick remarked. "Yeah I know that, but....ugh, she just pissed me off! No one has EVER been able to get under my skin the way she has and I don't even know her name!" Brian yelled out. "Sounds like a love match to me." Nick joked. Brian looked at Nick and glared before rolling his eyes. "I'm not gonna get into with you, too. She pissed me off but I'm not gonna let her ruin my night." Brian said as he walked around the house moving things or putting them away. "Let's go move the couch." Brian stated while trying to take his mind off of his problems with his new neighbor.

"So? Is she cute?" Nick asked as they lifted up the couch and moved it towards the wall. "What!?" Brian asked back. "The bitchy neighbor. Is she cute?" He asked again. They placed the couch down and stood back up. Brian looked at Nick like he was a moron. "Always thinkin' with the wrong head." Brian said as he shook his head in disbelief. "No dude, most bitches are always hot!" Nick defended his question. He turned around to examine his hair in the mirror while Brian watched him. At 21, Nick was looking more and more like a man as the years went on. He was no longer a little kid but to Brian he would always be a little brother. "Yo Bri!" Nick shouted as he stood in front of Brian. "Oh sorry..." Brian replied with a silly grin. "So?" Nick questioned. "Yeah Nick, she's cute but she's still a fuckin' bitch. I can't believe her!" Brian shouted as he threw his arms into the air.

Alexandra pulled out her laptop and let it load while she went into the kitchen to find something to eat. She opened the fridge and gasped. "Shit, I don't have a damned thing to eat." She knew she had paper work that had been emailed to her but eating was more important to her at the moment. She closed her laptop and walked back upstairs to grab her purse. She glanced at herself in the mirror that was hanging in the large bathroom adjacent to her closet room and saw how red her eyes looked and pale her skin was. "Makeover time." She said. She went back to the room and pulled out her makeup bag from her smallest suitcase before going back into the bathroom. She redid her makeup and undid her hair. She let it flow over her shoulders and smiled at the way it slightly curled at the tips. Alexandra went back into the room and fished through her suitcase until she found a small heart shaped box filled with hair supplies. "Where is it...dammit...I know I packed it!" She complained when she couldn't find her hair band. "Here we go!" She said happily as she found it at the bottom of her bag. She slipped it on and looked her outfit over in the mirror. "Gotta change!" She said as she jogged out of the bathroom towards her makeshift closet room. "Adidas...my beloved Adidas." She chanted as she found her workout pants and matching jacket. She looked in the mirror and frowned. "Friday night in a jogging outfit grocery shopping? That just screams 'married with children'. No thanks!" She said before diving back into her suitcase. She pulled out flared jeans and a tight navel-showing, low-cut, shimmering blue shirt. She put them on quickly as her stomach growled and looked herself over in the mirror. "Perfect! This screams 'single, willing, and able! Come talk to me and see what this outfit looks like crumpled on your bedroom floor!'" Xandra joked. She placed her sandals back on again, grabbed her purse and flew down the stairs. She walked out the front door and stopped when she heard the music again. She placed her hands on her hips and glared at the house. The music no longer bothered her. It was the neighbor. She shook her head and decided not to let the prick get under her skin as she walked over to her new, beloved car. Before getting in she saw a large Toyota Four Runner pull up into the neighbors driveway. She watched with curiosity as a tall and extremely handsome man slowly got out and stretched. He felt Xandra staring at him and turned. He seemed surprised to see someone there. He smiled and waved as Xandra did the same back to him.

"Hi! You must be new." He shouted. "Yeah, I just moved here from New York last night!" She shouted back. "Well, welcome to the neighborhood! I'm sure everyone here will make you feel at home." He stated. "Ugh! They haven't so far." She replied before smiling and getting into her car.

Kevin looked a little confused by her response before walking into the house where Brian and Nick were laughing in the living room over the loud music. "Turn it down! No one is here yet!" Kevin shouted as he walked into the living room. "No!" Brian and Nick shouted back. "What? Trying to piss off your beautiful new neighbor?" Kevin joked. "Yes!" Brian shouted back. Kevin thought back to the woman's response and Brian's reply and realized that they probably didn't hit it off well. "I think she knows that." Kevin said as he walked over to the stereo and turned it down. "Why are you doing that?" Brian asked. "First off, no one is here. Second off, she just left! So chill..." Kevin stood in the middle of the living room in plain jeans and a black t-shirt. His hair was slightly damp from his shower and the lingering scent of his after shave was slight. "She left?" Brian asked. "Yeah. She's gorgeous Bri. Whatever you said to piss her off..." "Wait a minute, I didn't piss her off! She pissed ME off!" Brian shouted. "Oh here we go again." Nick groaned. Kevin looked over at Nick demanding an explanation. Brian walked out of the living room to get a beer for the guys while Nick filled Kevin in on the events of the day. When Brian walked back into the living room Kevin watched him. "What, Kev?" Brian asked as he handed him a beer. "I think you were BOTH wrong. You both acted like children and it's up to one of you to apologize or you're gonna be living in hell for months. Our next tour isn't for at least 6 months." Brian nodded his head. "I agree and it should be HER," Brian said as he pointed towards her house, "...who apologizes." He stated stubbornly. Kevin shook his head while Nick laughed to himself. Brian sighed and left the room to make a phone call. Kevin laughed at his cousin's stubbornness before he realized something. "Welcome home, Nick."
