Just found this today...it sounds delightful! Can't wait to make it! 1 lb blueberries 3/4 c water 1/2 c sugar toasted sliced almonds for decoration whipped cream or ice cream for serving for topping: 1 1/2 c flour 1/4 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 tsp allspice ground 1 tsp grated lemon rind 3/4 to 1 cup half and half Combine blueberries, water and sugar in a deep wide pan. Bring to a simmer stirring to dissolve sugar. Let simmer gently while you prepare the topping Sift flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and allspice into a bowl. stir in the lemon rind. Add enough half and half to bind to a thick batter. Drop the batter in 8 dumplings on the bubbling berry mixture. Cover pan tightly and let simmer untill the dumplings are doublke in size, about 15 mins. Ladle dumplings and blueberry sauce into dishes. Sprinkle with almonds and top with whip creamor ice cream. Sounds yummy huh? I was just thinking the blueberry sauce recipe would serve excellently as a blueberry compote for pancakes. MMMMMMMmmmmmmm.
