4 cups peeled and chopped ripe tomatoes 1/4 cup chopped onion 6 tbsp. butter or margarine 1/4 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 cups half and half 2 cups whole milk ************************************************* Simmer tomatoes and onion in butter over low heat. Put in blender and mix well. This can be put in container, cooled and frozen for future use. To make soup, thaw and heat. Add remaining ingredients by blending flour, salt and pepper. Add to thawed tomato mixture. Add baking soda, half and half and milk. Mix well and heat. Serve with crackers or croutons.
