In large saucepan, thoroughly blend golden onion soup mix with water. Add remaining ingredients except rice. Bring to a boil, then simmer covered 45 minutes or until chicken is tender. Remove chicken and bay leaf; cool slightly. Remove meat from chicken bones and cut into bite-size pieces; set aside. Meanwhile, bring soup mixture to a boil and stir in uncooked rice. Reduce heat and simmer covered 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Return chicken meat to soup mixture and heat through. Makes about 4 (1-3/4-cup) servings. *Substitution: Use 1/3 cup egg pastina.
