The Perfect Career
What is the perfect career? That all depends on the individual. For myself it is accounting, but for my sister is it nursing. There are many different jobs in the world today, almost too many. First, though, everyone needs to get a good education, then do research o the career before you choose.
For myself, I went to the "Princeton Review." At first I thought this was going to be like the career inventory, but it was really the second part. This site goes into detail, explaining everything I needed and wanted to know about my career. I looked up accounting, which I am going to school for now.
Accounting has many different "turns" that you can take. From tracking clients income to making payments that are due to federal and state taxes. Accounting also has a lot of paperwork to go along with it. You are always working with numbers, which I enjoy doing. I am currently working at the YMCA, where I do payroll, taxes, accounts payable, and the daily income from the different branches. I am also interested in auditing, which is making sure that that company/person it paying what needs to be paid.
There are benefits to accounting such as meeting different people. The income isn’t to bad either, starting off, an account makes an average of $29,700. After 5 years the paying rate is $50,000 and after 10-15 years, it is $97,250. The average amount of hours worked is around 45 hours a week, except during tax season. There is approxamently 875,630 people in the profession.
When I think about what I want to be when I "grow up," I can honestly say that I want to be an accountant. I enjoy working with others and also by myself. Researching some on this career really pointed out both the pros and cons of this profession.
