Libertas Estate Planning
Estate Plans from the Law Office of Kevin L. Jones, P.C.

Large Firm Expertise.  Small Firm Fees.
    Welcome to Libertas Estate Planning!
It is my objective to create the most
(1)
comprehensive, (2) cost-efficient, and (3) elegantly simple estate plans in the state of Utah.  Also, (4) if you wish to make a full or partial charitable gift which will take effect after your death, I will coordinate a free beneficiary designation naming your favorite charity.
     (1)
Comprehensive.  It is possible that your existing will or trust will not pass assets to your intended recipients.  Instead, your assets may pass to old or unintended recipients via joint ownership arrangements and contractual beneficiary designations which "trump" your will or trust.  Your Libertas estate plan will acknowledge and incorporate these common asset conveyance methods.  A Libertas plan will give you a comprehensive view of who will receive your assets, how the assets will pass, and a spreadsheet estimate of how much each recipient might receive.
     (2)
Cost Efficient.  I charge fixed estate planning fees which are based on the size of your gross estate (the value of all of your assets without subtracting your liabilities).  I do not charge for an initial telephone consultation.  If you are accustomed to paying hourly legal bills to a large law firm, you may find my fixed fee structure refreshingly predictable.
     (3)
Elegant Simplicity.  The federal exclusion from estate taxes is scheduled to increase incrementally to $3.5 million by 2009.  This increasing exclusion presents a wonderful opportunity to simplify your estate plan because each year you are less likely to need a complicated (and expensive!) tax-reduction planning scheme.  And everyone, wealthy or not, can benefit from understandable estate plan documents.  Therefore, I will not create or perpetuate an ILIT, FLP, CRT, A/B trust or other tax-reduction device unless you absolutely need it.  I have also worked hard to eliminate legal gobbledygook from Libertas estate plans.
     (4)
Charitable Gifts.  As a matter of policy, if you ask me to coordinate a full or partial change of a contractual beneficiary which will result in a post-death gift of at least $5,000 in favor of any 501(c)(3) charity, I will do so free of charge.
