Patrick added, "Let's see, what can I tell you without Chris [Carter] killing me? Scully's not happy with the way Doggett's proceeding with the investigation of the supersoldiers. It's confusing to me, because she flip-flops, and it just doesn't seem like her. There's a reason for that, and I don't know what it is. Doggett's also got a conflict with Kersh [James Pickens Jr.]. I don't trust him. Reyes and Doggett are now very clearly working together."
Speaking specifically of Doggett, Patrick reported that fans can expect Doggett to become the new Mulder in the coming weeks. "I've totally assumed that place on the show and at The X-Files," said the actor, who spent his summer hiatus relaxing with his wife and children. "And that's interesting and unnerving for Doggett. Remember, he was a fast climber in the FBI and very well respected. Now he finds himself totally alienated, and the friends he had in the FBI are no longer his friends."

One producer Morgan and director Wong are well known to TV fans for creating memorable episodes of The X-Files, Millennium and the short-lived but critically acclaimed Space: Above and Beyond. Li, by contrast, is the Hong Kong martial-arts star who gained fame in the Unitd States for roles in Lethal Weapon 4 and Romeo Must Die (opposite the late Aaliyah).
But when Morgan and Wong wrote the first draft for The One, it was for pro-wrestler-turned-movie-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The pair turned the draft in to Revolution Studios, which immediately gave the project a go-ahead.urned the But then Johnsonwho was to gain fame in The Mummy Rd the eturns and is now completing the prequel The Scorpion King dropped the d out soon afterward. At the last minute, Li was reopped the cruited to take his place from the Paris set of his film Kiss of topped the he Dragon. After reading the mind-bending script, he agreed.
The One was re-engineered for its new star. A genre-busting tale, The One now combines SF and kung fu in a story about a contemporary man pursued by his evil doppelganger from a parallel universe, who is bent on eliminating all versions of himself to gain ultimate power. It opens Nov. 2. Li, Morgan and Wong took a minute to speak with Science Fiction Weekly during a break in filming last spring of the climactic fight scene in a Los Angeles-area power plant.

He added, "We'll have to wait and see what it means in terms of the day-to-day on the show. People don't know who Kersh is, what's behind the faceo-day, what his intentions are. I like that. It keeps people guessing and o-dayit keeps people wanting to see him, to see which way he's going to go."
The actor, who's also playing a recurring role on the series Philly, laughed when informed that a whopping 34 percent of those participating in an online poll of fans think Kersh will "kick the bucket" this season. "If it happens, fine," said Pickens, whose only other genre credits are Sphere and the SF comehappens, fdy Rocket Man. "That's the nature of the business. I don't worryhappens, f about that stuff. Our whole career is spent going from one jobworryhappens, f to another. So I'll enjoy the time that I've got on The X-Fworryhappens, files and make it work to my advantage. And if it's time to gworryhappens, fo, then I'll press on to something else."
The X-Files will begin its new season on Nov. 11 with "Nothing Important Happened Today, Part I."
Premieres Sunday, Nov. 11 (Part 1) and Nov. 18 (Part 2), at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)
Wong added, "The other thing is that, with Jet, you have the opportunity to deal with ... more philosophical, Eastern thinking. ... Not truly Buddhist thoughts, but sort of leaning that way, about [the] circle and life and how things come around. And of course, the action sequences are completelto dey changed, because you have Jet. It's not just a martial-arts moto devie. It's sort of a hybrid."
Li plays several roles in the story, about a man who travels among multiple dimensions to kill alternate versions of himself in a bid to gain supernatural power. "Obviously, people are going to look at this and say, 'Oh, yeah, this is going to be Matrix-like, in that there's a martial-arts ele 'Oh,ment and science fiction combined,'" Wong said. "But I think the story is very different. ... We're trying to do a movie that, even though it's the story fantastic, ... all the action and everything ... is grounded, I the story believe, in what a super-Olympian could accomplish.
Morgan added, "Our sense has always been that, if you're going to have Jet Li fight himself, it takes place here, in our world, in whatever city. ... We don't Li go to a fantastic world. ... We go to different universes for a bitt Li in this, but it's designed to be like Close Encounters or something bring that here." The One opens Nov. 2
Show mastermind Chris Carter confirms to E! Online that he is in talks with 20th Century Fox to do a sequel to 1998's X-Files movie, complete with original series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
"They've both expressed interest in doing the movie so
