I was just going to ask when the 2002 X-Files Calender was going to be published. I hadn't heard anything about it so I was also wondering if they were going to make one at all. But lo and behold, its being released today! You can order it from amazon.com here.

07/30/01
Well, I couldn't find any news for today but instead of not updating or just saying there is no news for today, I found a picture that I took in a movie theater about a month ago and I uploaded it. I just thought it was special that Evolution (DD's summer movie) and Jurassic Park (Tea's summer movie) could share a little spot in central Ohio.

November's the Time for Season 4!

It's official! Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the Season Four DVD Box set on November 13th, 2001. According to Senior Vice President Peter Staddon, "Season Four has some of the episodes that fans have been waiting for."

The special features added to the package will only complement those favored episodes. Commentary by Executive Producer Frank Spotnitz includes a never-before-seen kiss between Mulder and Scully in "Memento Mori." Audio had been edited out of the original 1996 broadcast of "Home" because it was deemed "too harsh for TV." That full audio is now restored, and is accessible with a special button to turn it on in the episode. Executive Producer Vince Gilligan also provides commentary on "Small Potatoes."

X-FILES Season 9 Tidbit
Program is hiring to fill casting void for its ninth season.

It looks like you had better get used to the idea that FBI agent Dana Scully is also a working mother. According to syndicated columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith, the program is now looking to hire twin sets of babies to play the part of Scully's child. In keeping with child labor laws, the twins will alternate to play one role in the series, which will possibly be recurring.

Pick up the 7/30/01 issue of People! There is a two page article on Tea Leoni and Jurassic Park 3. It also talks about DD, their marrage and West had pneumonia. If you don't care about that, theres a great candid picture of David, Tea and West but you can't really see West's face so it's alright to look at. Her head is covered with one of those baby hats. Here is a snipit of the article.
Maybe so. But these days Leoni is more likely to define herself by her priorities. Through the megabudget JP III will likely boost her career, "her child, her marriage, family and friends come first," says Taylor. At home in Malibu, where the family shares a $3 million house with their dogs Blue adn George, Leoni gets around in a Dodge pickup, boxes to keep in shape and dotes on Daughter West (as her parents call her). "She has David's eyes and David's cautious smarts," says Leoni, who took a break from acting between Impact and last year's The Family Man to care for her. "From me she has somewhat of a dramatic tendency."

"The Sutton Place Hotel is where I stayed when I first came to Vancouver. I have a sentimental attachment to it because that's where we started X-Files and went through all our growing pains when I lived there. I didn't get an apartment until maybe five months into the first year, so I stayed there a good, long while. It's right downtown. We were working real hard, and the hotel has nice massage people downstairs. You could get a massage in your room or down at the spa. That was always very relaxing."

Chris Carter Comments On THE X-FILES
Series creator touches upon season 8 and 9.

Chris Carter, who wasn't able to attend the TCA gathering in L.A. did get in his take on signing on to another season of THE X-FILES via a letter to Fox.

The letter, which was distributed to the press had Carter addressing his signing, saying, "The decision to return was a difficult one."

Regarding the last season and his own plans, Carter revealed, "I felt we ended last season just right. With David Duchovny's announcement that he wouldn't be returning, it created the opportunity for a natural exit."

Perhaps suggesting Gillian Anderson's impending exit from the series after the ninth season, Carter adds, "If I may steal a little bit from STAR TREK, I'm looking forward to the NEXT GENERATION of THE X-FILES."

Carter Back On Board THE X-FILES
Series creator signs on for one more season.

Chris Carter has signed a deal to stay on board THE X-FILES for one more season. He will continue as the showrunner working alongside executive producers, Frank Spotnitz, Vince Gilligan and John Shiban.

Regarding the deal, Fox Broadcasting prez Gail Berman said, "Chris has so many ideas for this show as we go forward. Chris and Frank and John and Vince are the life and breath of this series. We are thrilled that he is coming back with his team in place."

Regardless, this may still turn out to be Carter's last seaosn given recent comments by Gillian Anderson that she will depart after the curtain drops on season nine. Then again, Carter did stay on even after Duchovny split. Time will tell.

Mulder To Fly As Superman?

The Coming Attractions Web site reported several rumors about the proposed new Superman film, to be called either Superman Reborn or Superman Destruction. Paul Attanasio is reportedly in talks to write the script for the film.

The site reported that David Duchovny is under consideration to put on the blue suit, and director Tim Burton may become involved if his upcoming Planet of the Apes movie hits this summer.

Batman producers Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan are rumored to join longtime X-Files director David Nutter and Dan Hill as executive producers, the site reported. Warners Brothers wants to see how well Sony's Spider-Man film does next year before putting the project on a fast track for a Christmas 2003 release, the site added.
(Note from Rachael: Can you imagine David Nutter, Tum Burton (one of my favorite directors) and David Duchovny all working together? WOW!)

This is a little snippit from a Letter to the Editor
Think about these questions now. With the bunnecessary murder of Alex Krycek, The X-Files no longer has a clear or compelling bad guy. Alex Krycek was the one thing Carter really had going for him till the "incident" in the parking garage. The character could very well have breathed some life into the show and kept long time fans tuned in. But no, Alex is dead and gone. (Not even the most creative person alive would be able to work around that type of injury, not realistically anyways.)

THE 'DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT' AWARD

The "Doesn't Know What They Want" Award goes to David Duchovny who was recently reported as saying that he would now consider appearing as Fox Mulder in the ninth season of "The X Files". Just last month, Duchovny went on file stating that he absolutely did not want to appear on the show again. But apparently now that his movie "Evolution" did not perform as well as had been expected, it seems he's changed his mind again, and would be willing to guest.

Anderson Open To More X?

In a report that contradicts a British newspaper story last week, The X-Files star Gillian Anderson left open the possibility of staying with the Fox series for a 10th season, should the show be renewed again, the Reuters news service reported. An earlier report in the London Sunday Times quoted Anderson saying the show's next season, its ninth, would be her last. Anderson's contract expires at the end of the ninth season.

Fox's renewal deal for The X-Files also ends at the end of the ninth season, Reuters reported. "She's happy to be going back to do the ninth season, then her contract is up, so the assumption is that will be the end," Anderson's manager, Connie Freiberg, told Reuters. "We don't even know if the show is continuing" beyond a ninth year, Freiberg added. Asked whether Anderson would return to the show for a 10th season if the series gets renewed for another year, Freiberg said, "We can only face that when it happens."

The evolution of David Duchovny

LOS ANGELES--"It has been pretty steady. I think I'm in the primate stage right now, just about to turn into a huge amoeba with a six-foot anus," deadpans David Duchovny, mentioning a humongous alien in his new movie to describe the evolution of his career thus far.

The star of the hit TV series "X-Files" and the movie "Evolution" is wearing a light blue Banana Republic cotton shirt that makes his eyes, which seem to change from brown to green, stand out.

Deciding to keep the blonde color of his hair that director Ivan Reitman ("Ghostbusters") insisted for "Evolution," the six-foot-tall Duchovny has been described as a thinking womans sex symbol but many simply know him as the hunk from "X-Files," period.

Tea Leoni Talks JURASSIC PARK III

Leoni talks about the challenge of creating strong characters while facing deadly dinosaurs.
Tea Leoni is one of a group of actors who went head-to-head with the dinosaurs of JURASSIC PARK III. While talking to Ian Spelling's Inside Trek & Sci Fi syndicated column, Leoni spoke of how she approached her role in the coming film, saying, "We didn't have a very conclusive script at the time we began filming, but what I knew at the start would remain the same throughout whatever changes were made: Amanda is a mother who has lost her son, which is my own worst nightmare, and I'm sure it's top of the list for most mothers. That drives everything Amanda does, every move she makes."

David Duchovny Paints With His Bottom

David Duchovny's been painting for charity - with his butt. The handsome actor and his actress wife Tea Leoni admit they get very involved in their artwork, and use the star's backside to raise money for good causes. Leoni says, "David and I recently did some butt painting for a charity auction. I call myself the paint loader. I apply different colours to his cheeks and then he sits on the canvas. I reload and he repeats. Sometimes I get to spank him a little to blend the colours. I defy anyone to say that David and I don't know how to have fun." Leoni is proud to reveal that one of Duchovny's paintings sold for $3,500 at a Los Angeles auction for animal rights.

Looking for an 'X'-it

With her contract expiring after nest season, her daughter turning 7 (in September) and her plans for a London stage debut perfolating, Gillian Anderson - no suprise - expects to surrender her badge as Dana Scully on The X-Files. "It fels good. It's time," the actress, 32, told the Sunday Times in London. After nine years in her Emmy-winning role as an FBI agent, Anderson hopes to star in a West End production next summer. "The stuff I am going to do is as far from Scully as humanly possible," she vowed. More important, she intends to spend more time with Piper - her daughter with ex-husband Errol Clyde Klotz, a production designer. Through her 18-hour workdays about neglecting her child. Crosby Up For More X-Files

Denise Crosby may very well turn up again as Dr. Mary Speake when The X-Files returns for its ninth season this fall, the actress told SCI FI Wire. During an interview, Crosby--who's best known for her stint as Tasha Yar/Cmdr. Sela on Star Trek: The Next Generation--said she would be thrilled, as she's eager to learn more about the character that's been seen so far in the episodes "Empedocles" and "Essence."

"Chris Carter doesn't reveal very much," said the actress, who was directed in "Essence" by veteran X-Files producer and director Kim Manners. (Manners put her through her paces more than a decade ago in the Next Generation episode "When the Bough Breaks.") "When I was coming onto the show, I don't think they'd even quite had it worked out who the baby was, what it was, how it was going to be born," Crosby said. "Chris was writing it in secret and wasn't very available. I just know that I was Scully's [Gillian Anderson] doctor, and I was taking care of her. Speake is an obstetrician."

Crosby--who's also contemplating a sequel to the documentary Trekkies, which she co-produced and hosted--considers Dr. Speake a character with tremendous potential. "She could align herself with Scully and protect the baby," Crosby said. "But for all I know, she could be an alien who tries to bring in the second coming. So I don't know what will happen. The show is so out there. But I'm sure Chris will think of something."

X-Files Anderson Heading For The London Stage

Gillian Anderson has told the London Sunday Times that she plans to appear in a play on London's West End next summer after she leaves The X-Files following the 2001-02 season. While declining to discuss details of the production, she allowed that her role will be "as far from Scully as humanly possible." Her intention, she indicated, is to avoid being typecast as her X-Files character. "I hope I will be able to act my way out of that. But having been Scully for such a long time, I have to prove myself," she said. Implying that she has turned down a number of film roles, she remarked: "Oh, God, there is a tremendous amount of crap out there, and the amount of money thrown at it is appalling."

Krycek Can't Be Killed Off

Having been a devoted fan of The X-Files since the pilot episode, I have enjoyed watching the characters evolve over the years. But ... am I the only Alex Krycek fan out there that thought the ending sucked? I can't believe the Powers That Be would write him off. I have had two recurring dreams since that fateful night.

1. The "Sleeping" (I can't bring myself to say the "D" word) Alex was really a clone. The real one has been held prisoner by the alien collaborators and will escape next season opener.

2. Jeremiah Smith or someone just like him was hiding in the garage and when everyone left he came out and brought Alex back.

Of course, in both my dreams Alex was still a bad boy, but this time he also had some remorse for all he'd done to our FBI friends and tries to make it right. Maybe we all should write to Chris Carter and demand our Rat Boy back. I'm not sure I can watch the final season (there is going to be a next season isn't there?) without my Alex in at least some of the episodes.
