temporary announcement:
This spring we are starting Leaver/tribal orchard project.  
The week of Spring break, we will have 
tree planting parties in West Berkeley. 
 (With Asparagus breakfast)
This is part of a project to start an utopian
"Leaver Healing community" near Shasta this year.
In West Berkeley, we have use of a large house and yard,
we will use this for growing trees to be transplanted
"at the land," for gardens, 
movie nights, and community meals.
If you are interested in helping with a vegan breakfast/treeplanting event, 
call 644-1303 and leave your name.
For example, Friday morning,
 the day of Critical Mass, 
you can expect asparagus breakfast 
and up to 100 trees to planted in portable planters.  
These trees will grow in the pots for now, 
and they will make the beginnings of our orchard 
when we get nonprofit land later this spring.

What can we do to start planting more trees everywhere,
  starting with Oakland! MoreTrees.Org can help somehow in a grass-roots
  city-wide greenification program, with more trees everywhere.

  

  Possibilities: 

  -Multiple youth education possibilities and seedling distribution. This
  seems promising.

  

  -facilitating street tree planting city wide. So far, this has been done
  one street at a time.

  

  -Making it straightforward for homeowners and renters to have trees planted
  in their yards by neighborhood youth and/or the nonprofit.

  

  -Promoting the benefits of planting trees and also suggestions for best
  tree health.

  

  -Spring season events to promote tree idealism.

  newest trees at Peralta, MLK, 5th st., and several school playgrounds!
  Cause of the City of Oaks needs trees again! (How about calling it "Redwood
  Bay?" Remind everyone that the bay is normally surrounded by redwoods!)

Oakland Releaf needs some sort of cargo trailer that
  can be pulled by a pickup. This is needed for hauling trees,tools, dirt,
  etc.
