Differences Between Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses

Ares

Ares is the god of warfare. there is little known about Ares. He had a few affairs with
Aphrodite and had three children. Two of his children are called Demios (Fear) and Phobos (Terror) Ares is the only god in
greek mythology hated by the gods and the Greeks themselves. There are no altars to honor Ares. In the Greek mythology, Ares is
shown as bloody and fearless person. Ares rode into battle with his special horses called Flame in Terror. Other myths say that
Ares chariot was pulled by lions. His special animal was the vulture.

Mars

Mars was the Roman counterpart of the Greek god Ares. Mars was a kinder person than Ares although there are no places
that honor Mars. Mars is offten connected with Belladona who was either his wife, sister, or daughter who operated his
chariot. Mars is also the father of Romulus and Remus. Guessing from the name, it seems that Romulus is the founder of Rome.
Before Mars became the god of warfare, he was the god of fertility and vegetation. His favorite animal was the dog.
