Differences Between Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses

Eros

Eros was the god of love. He was the son of Erebos, the god of night and others say he was the son of Ares. Eros was an
often companion of Aphrodite and made mischief by shooting arrows of love into mortals. He shot arrows into the hearts of
gods too. Eros was part of an army called the Sacred Band of Thebes which was made up of 150 members. All of them were
killed by the Macedonian army at Chaeronia. After the battle, the King of Macedonia gave a special burial.

Cupid

Cupid was the god of love. He is often shown a small winged child with a golden arrow. The golden arrow attracted love.
There was another arrow too. This arrow was made of lead and it repelled love. In the story of Cupid and Psyche, Cupid
injured himself with one of his arrows and fell in love with her. One night, Psyche wanted to see what her husband looked like.
Accidentally, she dropped hot oil from the lamp she was carrying onto him. When cupid awoke, he flew away and Psyche was
heartbroken until Zeus granted her immortality. The couple had a daughter and called her Voluptas.
