| Lance's Funeral |
| There were so many people that attended the viewing, I am sure it did everyone's heart well to see that Lance was loved by so many people. Dalton's funeral home stayed packed with people throughout the entire time of the viewing. Officers from the Germantown police department stood in guard of Lance and his mom throughout the entire viewing funeral preceedings. It was decided for Lance to be buried with his mom's ashes. Half of his mom's ashes were taken to Kentucky and the other half to be buried with Lance inside his gravesite. A picture of Lances mom was placed by the casket so the people that loved her could see her. There were so many people at the Funeral that there were many people standing in the back. The officiating minister was Rev. Ricky King and the Music was performed by long time friend of Lance's David Sebastian Stewart. The minister spoke of his great life and love of the outdoors and his love of family and friends. After that the hymm Amazing Grace was played and then the song that Lance learned to play was played as everyone filed past Lance to share their final thoughts with Lance. It seemed as if the entire Germantown Police force was there making the drive from the funeral home to the cemetary seemless. We would drive be and would be saluted as we would pass by each of the officers posted at every possible intersection on the way. I (David Sebastian) was about 15 cars from the hearst and remeber looking back and never being able to see the end of the lit headlights. That is how many people were in the procession. Upon arrival at the gravesite, the pal-bearers carefully brought the casket that contained Lance and the ashes of his Mother to the place where they would lay for the rest of time. Another service occoured at the gravesite reitterating the wonderful presence and effect they had on so many people whoes lives they touched. At the end the minister took a Rose from an arrangement and handed it to each member of Lance and Peggy's immediate family. A carnation from other floral arrangements was handed out to all of the people who came. As we all parted and closed a major chapter in all our lives I hope all were filled with the spirit that we will all see them again in heaven. |
