Local fable from the town of Macross tell that the Matrix was at one time a woman...a mother. This mother gave birth to two sons. One son, she names Steve Bateman--and the other was who has become known as the backstabber.

Backstabber, like most men, became obsessed with the power that his mother held. She could shape whole worlds with a thought--more importantly, she could destroy them just as easily. Through an act of ultimate betrayal, Backstabber preformed a ceremony that removed his mothers power and stored it in what he called, "The Matrix." Steve Bateman discovered his mother dead and Backstabber destroying entire universes in a single swipe. The brothers fought for control of the Matrix. After a long battle, Steve Bateman defeated his brother and kept the Matrix. For an eternity he has been in control of the Matrix...now Backstabber has stolen it back.

Part of a family line of ruthless space pirates--his reputation hails from hijacking entire fleets of the REF forces. Although innocent looking enough--and quite a charmer for the ladies...he has cost the REF more than any other criminal, both in dollars and in officers.
