Country of gentle hills, sunken country lanes and somnolent villages

What is on the menu?

Wonderful autumn walk,
Lot of fun with fine people like you,
Relax in English countryside.

Let's get scared in the crypt of Ightham Mote,
Have a picnic in the open-air,
And for the end ... Catch your deer in Knole Park.

From Borough Green to Knole via Ightham Mote

This rewarding walk takes us down narrow country lanes, through lush orchards and across fields, from the village of Borough Green to secluded Ightham Common. From this point, the walk becomes no just pretty but spectacular.
First we pass the wonderfully atmospheric medieval and Tudor manor house, which looks like a quaint half-timbered cottage writ large, ringed by a moat and it is crammed with treasures.
From Ightham Mote, the walk ascends a high ridge, following part of the established Greensand Way, with terrific views south to the High Weald.
From the ridge we enter magnificent deer park at Knole, walking past the high ragstone walls of Knole House itself. As the house has 365 rooms - one of every day of the year - it is best saved for a separate visit, so we will visit it next time.
