The first few weeks of school, we concentrate on
learning the rules of school. For many children, this is their first group
situation. They need to learn to follow directions, listen in a group setting,
and respect other children and their property.
During work time, the children start with an
academic job-like the math center, the writing center, the science center, etc.
Then they choose their own jobs. Here are some of the children working at their
choice.

October-
We will be discussing the changes
that occur in the fall. Farmers harvesting their crops are one of those changes.
We went to the Pumpkin Patch and saw some of the things the farmers have
harvested. We also got to see some animals. Some were common-like goats and
bunnies. Others were more unusual-like camels and tortoises.

The children enjoyed playing on the pumpkins.

Here are some of the gourds that were
at Carmichael's.
Chris is watching a baby goat.

 Here are some
shots of the afternoon party.

Webs were everywhere.

November-
When we were talking about teddy bears we had a
parade and a teddy bear picnic. We ate teddy grahams and gummy bears. They were
delicious!
Our bears got awards for many different things.

December-
While studying about farms, the children used farm
animals in the block center. Their imagination can be used in all areas of the
room.

The children could not get their minds off the
holidays. Here the girls used their imagination and got a necktie to use as
reins. We have 2 reindeer pulling Santa.

It's Vantine's Day! The children love eating and opening their cards to see the
funny pictures and who sent them the card.

Everyone got balloons donated by a parent. That was
fun!

Buns is a bunny who has traveled all over the USA. Wherever he goes he has his
picture taken, from the White House to the Golden Gate Bridge. Buns came to our
school and everyone got to pet him. he is a great rabbit!
