INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:

The students will:
1. Collect and review children’s literature with strong visual illustrations. (SCVPACS I, II, IV, V,VI) (NCS 1 and 5)

2. Analyze illustrations by popular children’s literature illustrators from the 1950’ s through today and recognize changes in techniques, media, subject matter, and imagery. (SCVPACS I, II, and IV.) (NCS 5)

3. Notice the impact of technology on the tools that illustrators use. (SCVPACS I and IV) (NCS 1)

4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the illustrations in terms of the elements and principles of design. (SCVPACS II) (NCS 5)

5. Create a modern illustration from a favorite children’s book using the elements and principles of design and three types of unique media. (SCVPACS I, II, and V) (NCS 1)

6. Write an artist statement about the process of creating the storytelling collage. (SCVPACs II)
